Was the Co-Founder of Crumbl Outed? Gurrrlll...There Is Drama!
It's total sh*t that, because of our current political climate, members of the queer community remain in the closet, fearful of being found out. While we think everyone should be out and proud, we also don't condone outing anyone before they feel confident and safe enough to come out. Yesterday, Crumbl Cookies co-founder Sawyer Hemsley took to social media to officially come out. He wrote, "The truth is, over the past few years I’ve come to understand and accept that I’m gay. It’s taken me a long time to really process this part of myself and even longer to feel comfortable enough to say it out loud. For most of my life, I didn’t have the clarity to answer the questions or respond to the rumors. Coming to terms with it has been overwhelming and, at times, scary — but it has also brought me peace, joy, and authenticity that I wouldn’t trade for anything."

Sawyer was raised Mormon and shared that he was raised with certain beliefs and ideas that have made his self-discovery as gay difficult. Sawyer co-founded Crumbl Cookies with his cousin in 2017. The brand went viral on social media, and the company has had over a billion dollars in sales over the last three years.
We applaud Sawyer's coming out, but was he forced to come out? Reality TV personality and entrepreneur Robert Sepúlveda Jr. posted messages that he shared with Sawyer, making his sexuality pretty obvious. Robert shared the posts in response to rumors that Sawyer was a straight Republican.

Them media outlet released the story about Sawyer's coming out and intimated that it was a direct result of Robert's post, which occurred just four hours prior. Robert claims he chatted with Sawyer for weeks and that nudes were shared. Robert states that he told Sawyer he was only looking for something serious. Robert took to social media to give his response to the coming-out article. His post is very direct, and he doesn't pull any punches. He admonishes the writer and the publication for blaming him for Sawyer's coming out, sharing that people on Twitter and TikTok have been addressing Sawyer's sexuality for months.

No one should be outed; it is just dangerous. But you can't expect to message people nudes and flirt and not think it was going to get out somehow. Sawyer has gained much support on his social media post, admonishing anyone who might have outed him. Did Robert take the blame just because he has a large social media presence?
