Lil Nas X Wandering LA In His Undies, Arrested & Hospitalized

Oh, Lordy! We know that Lil Nas X is damn sexy and looks good filling out a pair of undies. Well, he and his undies got some unfortunate press yesterday as our queer pop star was found wandering Los Angeles in nothing but his underwear, acting strangely. Officers were responding to calls that a naked man was running around Ventura Boulevard, one of the city’s main streets, Rosario Cervantes. He wasn't naked; he was in his undies. Allegedly, Lil Nas ran at the officers and was arrested.

Upon being arrested, Lil Nas was taken to the hospital after it was assumed that he had overdosed. It was a brief visit to the hospital, and he was then taken and jailed. His booking states he was arrested on the misdemeanor of obstructing an officer. TMZ, of course, was on the scene to capture it all. Lil Nas X is seen walking, singing, and dancing, talking about a party in nothing but underwear and a pair of boots. If he wasn't stumbling, you would assume he was filming something new. Surprisingly, he is still reported to be in jail and will remain there till Monday. Celebrities usually get bailed out immediately. And a whole weekend in jail? He's a queer celebrity. How will he get treated behind bars? So why does this celeb have to wait? He has to appear before a judge to get a bail amount. There is a long line in front of him and so he has to wait. He could have been issued a citation and released, but because there is reported violence involved, he has to wait.

We have rallied around Lil Nas X for being a rebel and for being outspoken about his queerness in celebrating sexuality. Did we cultivate actions like this? Did fame come too fast for this pop star? Where are his handlers? Where is his team? We have celebrated other pop stars who go off the rails. Is he being highlighted because he is queer? With all the spotlight on the queer community politically and socially, news like this does not do well for visibility. Lil Nas is an easy target because he has been unapologetically outspoken, refusing to tone down his sexuality.

We hope Lil Nas gets the help he needs if he does have a problem. But we should rally and support and not be so quick to point the finger. We need outspoken queer artists like him to push the envelope and refuse to bow down to the mainstream. Free Lil Nas X!
