The Truths About Only Being A Top

Some of us gays only top, some of us gays only bottom. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't always have to do with trying to be uber masculine or passive. In some cases, some tops can't physically bottom, even after trying many times. And in other cases, there is no interest in flipping to the other side. It just isn't enjoyable. Here are some things I've learned from those gay tops who don't flip.

Performance Anxiety

When a bottom knows that you won't ever take the bottom bunk, they expect you to perform like a porn star. Only topping does not necessarily mean you can pump for hours. Sometimes when there is that much pressure, you can get performance anxiety and cum too fast or not at all. Power bottoms expect a lot!

More Choices

There is the running joke that there are no tops out there. The gay community seems to be teeming with bottoms, on the apps and in real life. So, having to compete with a bunch of other power tops is not a real issue, and they get more attention and selection on the apps. In some cases, a bottom will go after someone who is not exactly their type, just to get some major D. As someone who enjoys the bottom bunk, I can verify that finding a top on Sniffes and Grindr sometimes takes forever. The struggle is real.

The Blouse Effect

Some of those who are power tops can have effeminate qualities. The joke is that they are a blouse - a feminine top. We make a lot of assumptions in the gay community, and when someone snaps their fingers and watches Drag Race around the clock, we assume they will be face first in the pillow and ass up. This isn't the truth. A blouse might feel the pressure to butch it up around a searching bottom.

Dealing With A Verse

We've heard the saying, two bottoms don't make a right. The same goes for tops. What if you only top and you fall for someone who also likes to take the top bunk? Even if it is not expected a lot, if a top can't bottom, they can't bottom. End of story. This can cause a bit of resentment. Having an open relationship or threesomes can circumvent the issue, but then jealousy and wandering eyes can also result.

Size Queens

When a bottom hears that you only top, their ears and assholes perk up. They expect you to be majorly hung, and there are many size queens out there in the bottom world. The fact, not all of the guys who only take the top bunk are hung. The world's average penis size is just about 5 inches. Some bottoms don't hide their disappointment when they unzip and are greeted by a normal size dick. This also adds anxiety to the proceedings and ruins a good hookup session. Does size matter? Hey, if you have some moves and can hit the spot, does it matter if it's not 8.5 inches? Some of us bottoms like being able to walk the next day.

The Jerk Effect

When a top says that they don't bottom at all, there are all kinds of assumptions as to their character. These guys are assumed to have an ego, or that they are too lazy to bottom, or that they are trying to be super macho. They can be considered a jerk in the bedroom. As we said before, sometimes you just can't flip, and that's the final story. It doesn't mean they can't be romantic or giving in other ways, or that they can't be dominated in bed. Power bottoms can certainly take the lead in the bedroom, trust me, I know.
