P Town Gay Bar Raided, Drag Queens Get Sassy
Wow, what year is this? Recently, a gay bar was raided by police during the evening's drag performances. Well, the patrons and the drag queens didn't just let that happen quietly. But seriously, what is happening?
The incident in question was first reported by QBurgh, the LGBTQ news and community resource for Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. 20 police, wearing bulletproof vests, raided P Town Bar, an LGBTQ bar in Pittsburgh, while drag night was in full swing. Patrons and staff were forced out of the venue while it was inspected for a “compliance check.” Popular drag entertainer Indica was taking the stage, tearing it up while performing "Bohemian Rhapsody." Queer icon Amanda Lepore was also on hand to participate in the evening's festivities. Well, you can guess how well it went over, the police demanding a venue full of loud gays to get out.

Patrons were forced outside for over 30 minutes while the police continued their inspection. Indica wasn't going to let the moment go without some fanfare and decided to keep the show going by walking up and down the street collecting tips while the crowd sang "Pink Pony Club" by our queen Chappell Roan - very fitting. Indica ended her performance by proclaiming, “Guess what, divas? This is why queer people have gotta stick the fuck together in 2025… Make some noise for the queer people in your life everybody.” The crowd erupted in applause. Everything was caught on video.
Just a month ago, the venue hosted a Jail and Bail night. Foreshadowing? LOL.

It was reported that the police allowed 70 of the 130 patrons back into the bar, saying it was over capacity. Some of the patrons reported that they were made to wait outside in the rain, and no one could figure out why the police were so heavily armored in bulletproof vests. We queens can cause harm with our reads, not necessarily our guns. It is also reported that police were uncommunicative as to why they were raiding the venue, and that many of the police refused to make eye contact with the venue's guests. Although Indica reported that some of the police officers took selfies with Amanda Lepore. Sassy! Lepore seems to be a regular at the venue.

The police have made a statement, not revealing who made the initial call to report the venue, but said they were responding in accordance with the Allegheny County Nuisance Bar Task Force. All in all, everything transpired in an orderly fashion, and there was no violence.
Is this what we have to look forward to in the years to come?
