30 Safest U.S. Cities for LGBTQ Travelers for 2025
As summer gets closer, more and more of us are looking to make our vacation plans. But, with everything going on in the world socially and politically, and not just here, but on a global level, the LGBTQ community doesn't even know what is considered safe to travel to. There are also reports that travelers are being detained from entering the US, with phones being confiscated and searched for any anti-US government social media posts or content. What is even happening? Also, some foreign countries have become increasingly opposed to LGBTQ support and inclusion, affecting queer tourism. So, where is an LGBTQ traveler supposed to go? Our friends at misterb&b have created a Queer Safety Index and ranked the 30 safest US cities to visit for those of us who are feeling uneasy about international travel. For those of you unfamiliar, misterb&B is the queer answer to AirBnB and connects travelers with the world's largest community of LGBTQ+ hosts and hotels, and gay traveler reviews. Now, we also know that many parts of the US are also turning against the queer community, so this Queer Safety Index comes at a good time.

The numeric value in parentheses represents the city’s weighted composite safety score as determined by misterb&b. The safety score for LGBTQ travelers was determined by looking at the most booked cities on the misterb&b site, state policies regarding the queer community, local protections, legislative anti-LGBTQ bills and laws, community support (like LGBTQ centers and PFLAG), and number of hate crime reports.
We were surprised to see Florida mentioned as many times as it was, but the queer community in those LGBTQ-heavy cities are fierce and are not giving up the fight nor their queer spaces. We were also surprised to see Texas represented, although we have had more than our fair share of cowboys. Being headquartered in Los Angeles, we can attest that California is largely a safe space for the LGBTQ traveler. You have Los Angeles, San Diego, Cathedral City, and Palm Springs all within a two-hour drive. So our state is probably the best for more bang for your buck. We also have nude gay beaches, lol.
So travel safely this season and let us know how your experience was.
