David Archuleta Gives Us A Taste of His Crème Brûlée
Our little American Idol twink is all grown up! David Archuleta has really evolved over the years after coming out. He's exploring his sexuality, he's exploring his personal style, and he's exploring his music styles. We love watching him expand and explore.
This year, David celebrated the 35th anniversary of George Michael's Freedom with his own take on the song. In his interviews, David says George Michael has been instrumental as a role model for David's own journey to Freedom. We love how David incorporated gospel and his own take on the iconic song. Have you checked it out?
David has gotten a bit more playful and a bit more sexier in his latest single, Crème Brûlée. It is a total pop bop, and it's sweet and sexy. It is also the first single of David's upcoming EP release that will hit just in time for summer. Not only does the song give David the freedom to get flirty, but he also goes back to his Latin roots by incorporating Spanish and English to the single. David said in a statement, “All this time I’ve been singing Spanish covers, but I’ve never had that Spanish flair in my own pop music. I wanted to get in touch with my Latin roots, have fun, be flirty, and explore the sensual side of David.”
David is not shying away from the sensual aspect of the song, and is instead embracing it. David has been very open about this sexual exploration. Even on social media, he's even addressed sexual positions. Is he a top or bottom? Hmmm...check out our coverage.
Lyrics in Crème Brûlée include, “Someone was really after me and wanted everything from me right away, but you’ve gotta work for it if you want more from me. You may have had a taste that makes you go crazy (“yo te vuelvo loco” is “I make you crazy” in Spanish) but I’m not going to give it all just yet unless you’re really worth my time and it’s worthwhile for me.”
His music video for Crème Brûlée also features David moving in all directions with some intricate dance moves. The video was directed by Nathan Kim who has also worked with Charli XCX, David Guetta, Lady Gaga, and more, and puts David front and center alongside the JA Collective dance trio. If David moves this well on camera, we can only imagine how he moves in the bedroom. Watch out for those Latin hips!
We are so happy to see David exploring his queer sensual side. He has a big fan base that includes gay and straight folk, and his life story is an inspiration for those who are waiting to come out of the closet. We've met David personally at events and at his single release party, and we can attest that he is so adorable, down-to-earth, and more than happy to meet a fan.
If you are in the LA area, David is presenting a dance party for the ages! The Afterhours party represents David's newfound love of raves. He will be performing, as well as including some top DJs.
