Madonna Is Giving Us A Confessions on a Dance Floor Sequel!

Be still our little gay hearts, Madonna dropped some major news and fans are going crazy. Madonna gave the world a Valentine's Day present as she announced that her next album, M15, will be a Confessions On A Dance Floor Sequel. She took to Instagram to make the announcement, “My Valentine’s Day gift to all my fans is to let you know I’m putting my heart and soul into my new music, and I can’t wait to share it with you! Confessions Part 2." She included some behind-the-scenes shots of her in the studio hard at work.

Madonna's sequel album will come twenty years after the original. She has reunited with Stuart Price, who was one of the main producers of her first Confessions on a Dance Floor album. When the album first hit, it was a notable change from her previous album, American Life. In Confessions, Madonna channels 1970s disco and 1980s electropop. Given some of the popular music that has come out lately, the gay community could use some old-fashioned dance tunes to hit the clubs, rather than remixes of current popular songs. The original album sampled beats by Donna Summer, ABBA, and the Pet Shop Boys. The year after the album was released, she embarked on her Confessions Tour and earned the title of the highest-grossing tour for a female artist at that time. The single "Hung Up" from the album topped the charts in 41 countries and Billboard titled it the most successful dance hit of the decade.

Madonna's fan base, while loyal, has been vocal about some of the eccentricities that the artist has displayed. From comments on her looks to appearances on talk shows, social media loves to gab. The younger generation of gays just doesn't comprehend fully how Madonaa changed the music and queer scene. She has always been an ally for our cause. Maybe going back to some of her past material is a good idea, that's what we loved her for in the first place.

Bedtime Stories was first released in 1994. How has it been that long??? Sigh. "Take a Bow," a single from that album charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself charted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified three times for going platinum.

Other icons like Cher, Elton, Cyndi Lauper, and more often dig back in their original popular music library, why can't Madonna?
