Major Grindr Changes for 2025: Here's What's Cumming

Grindr CEO and CPO (Chief Product Officer) released a statement this week thanking its users and unveiling some major changes to come. According to their statement, they want Grindr to expand to become "the Global Gayborhood in Your Pocket™" and go beyond just casual connections and include long-term relationships, travel tips, and ways to meet new people while exploring. How are they going to do that? AI! Their 2025 Product Roadmap includes six initiatives, involving AI, that will make the app a must-have for every gay.

Cut Through the Noise

Ever have a really hot conversation that you forget to follow up on and it gets lost in your inbox? Have a great hookup but then forget which guy it was because he only has a torso pic among your hundreds of torso profiles? Have you had a looooong convo with someone but forgot the nature of your convo and don't want to scroll all the way to the top? Well, Grindr AI is going to help you out. The platform will summarize a conversation you've had with someone with all the pertinent details, an episode description if you will. The summary will tell you if you hooked up, what your response is, any potential future plans that were made, and if you've exchanged albums or locations. It will also have a filter to keep the guys you've hooked up with and the guys you've had missed connections with all in one place. It will also have a perfect matches section to keep high-potential matches and best connections in one place.

Handpicked For You

Grindr will start to make daily recommendations of guys they think are a good match. Profiles will be enhanced to become more personalized. You will have the control to pass on guys they recommend - we assume it will be a type of Tinder match where you can swipe a guy away. This will help the platform determine who to suggest next. This will cut down on the time you are scrolling through grids of guys who just aren't your type.

Hotties Around the World

Now you can browse and chat with guys all around the globe. You can do this ahead of travel to make plans to meet up and/or go for a date. Grindr AI will help cultivate a good match list depending on where you are browsing. The platform says this feature will be "media rich," a browsing experience designed to arouse the senses. What does that mean? We are intrigued. We hope this feature also weeds out potential scammers. We can imagine a hot Nigerian Prince who wants to send us $1,000,000.

Find the Action. Anywhere.

As part of the Grindr travel experience, you can "Explore the Heatmap." For us traveling gays, all we know how to do is drop a pin into the city that we are traveling to. This feature will tell you where the most activity/users are so you know exactly where to look.

Touch Down, Turn On

Grindr intends to provide a Travel Pass. The Travel Pass will include 3 profile boosts, a Visitor Tag, and even a Chat Translator. We are using the Travel Pass can be purchased as an add-on. We really are intrigued by the translator function as we have lost many hot hookups due to issues with communication.

Some features that have been soft-launched in 2024 and will be expanded to a bigger market are:

Right Now - Much like Sniffies, this allows users who are looking for literally RIGHT NOW, no small talk, no plans for the future, just hooking up now or never

Roam - you can set your profile to any part of the world that Grindr is in, you can start to chat with locals before you make a trip...you can also see if your boyfriend is online during his business trip

Super Boost - much like regular Boost, this will highlight your profile to local users. Super Boost will keep it up twice as long

Wingman - using AI, your "wingman" can help develop your profile, search for potential matches, and even start the conversation.
