Manscaping, To Shave Or Not To Shave?

Do you prefer your men hairy and bushy, diving your face into a natural bunch of pubes? Or do you like it smooth and tailored with just enough pubes to make it manly? To shave or not to shave is the manscaping hot topic that has divided the community for years. While vintage porn of the 70s and early 80s has men with mustaches and hairy chests, that all gave way to the smooth men of the late 80s and 90s. Now? It's all up for grabs but movements like metrosexuality and smooth, twink celebrity fame have made being shaven very popular. While it is rare to turn down a hot guy with a big package, we have had some run-ins with hookups who didn't care for our bushy crotch. So then we shaved, and then we had hookups who said they didn't want to hook up with a salmon (the bear community's term for someone totally clean-shaven). There is no general rule and it is all about aesthetics, but we wanted to look at the different sides of manscaping.

Not To Shave

Body hair is just a natural part of being human. Some of us have back hair, and some of us have a chest hairier than a sasquatch on testosterone. So many of the gay community see a lot of hair as masculine and a rugged part of nature. There is an allure of seeing a muscled man in his natural state, ready for the taking. There's a primal energy that usually comes with some musk and rougher action. Also, opposites attract so for some men who were born naturally smooth, a hairier guy in the bedroom is an instant turn-on. Part of the reason why some are averse to a lot of hair is because it is widely underrepresented in media. Many actors have to have their backs waxed and chest hair trimmed to film shirtless or sex scenes, the general assumption is audiences expect to see smooth men, even if that isn't what is happening in the natural world. For body hair fans, there is also a texture, the feel of pubes or chest hair that can evoke a tactile response. Also, manscaping can take a lot of time and if it isn't done right can cause injury or make you look ridiculous. We aren't talking a little trim, even the bushiest of bushes need a little bonsai trimming action, we are talking full manscaping.

To Shave

For the gays who support manscaping, a trimmed or even smooth pubic area evokes feelings of being clean, fresh, and young. It is true that body hair can be a breeding ground for bacteria and be a cause of odor. So from a health standard, being trimmed or smooth does make some sense. Here's where we are gonna get a bit graphic and real. For those of us gays who are a bit chubby, we may have pouches or folds around our dick and balls that might be best covered up. On the other hand, shaving your pubes down can make your dick look bigger. Also keep in mind, when keeping it smooth, you have to be aware of ingrown hairs that can ruin the look of anything. Going smooth is like getting a tattoo, once you start, there is little stopping.

Here's some advice if you want to get into manscaping or even just a little trim:

  • Don't use razors. Razors can lead to cuts (you don't want any open cuts around your genitals), ingrown hairs, or razor burn. Body trimmers are the way to go, and spend some money on a high-quality one. And sorry, guys, beard trimmers won't cut it, get one made especially for your man areas.
  • Start small. Don't just dive in with your trimmer and get down to the skin. Try just trimming a little until you get the hang of it. You might find just a little trim can make all the difference, and you don't need to go full bare skin.
  • Don't wax to manscape! There are so man salons that will tout male waxing. Not only is it super painful, but you WILL have rashes and ingrown hairs and that ruins it all. Also, you have to go back very often and having to book an appointment for an hour of punishment will become more and more daunting.
  • For ass hair, use a cream to manscape. Shaving will result in stubble and when your butt cheeks rub against each other (everyone's does when you walk), it will create friction and rashes. Not fun.

And for those who want to forgo manscaping all together, DO NOT forgo regular washing. Your hair can trap a bunch of stuff you don't want and cause an odor that even the kinkiest of gays won't want to be around. Wash your hair!
