Underground Gay Sex Parties in Mexico! Gurrrll...
Are you a fan of cruising and illicit hookups? Well, maybe you should pack your bags and head to Mexico City, apparently, that's where all the underground gay sex parties are happening! Aye aye aye! The Nation magazine did a full investigation on the reported shenanigans and witnessed first hand what was happening. Let's just say it's pretty hot, but is it safe?
Gay sex has been reported to be occurring regularly on Mexico City's train system. The reporter, after receiving some intel, boarded the last car on a train heading out of the City during off-peak hours. He first hand saw an older man jerking off a younger guy during the train ride, with other passengers (women and men) ignoring what was happening. The younger man was brought to a blissful climax.

According to gay history, Mexico City's train system has been used for gay sex, romance, and other encounters since its opening in 1969. The subway/train system is considered the axis of Mexico City’s gay world. Illicit hookups take place in what is called the último vagón, translated as "last car." Apparently the police and politicians know what is going on and turn a blind eye. The subway system is decorated with art from the queer community, even US HIV/AIDS activist Keith Haring. Mexico City's laws regarding public sex are not clearly defined and so the gays have been getting away with it...proudly and loudly! Public sex is prohibited if it is “the exhibition of the sex organs with the intention to bother or attack someone,” but consensual sex is ok? It's ambiguous.
Not everyone (pardon the pun) is on board with what is happening. It has become a heated discussion with some from the queer community claiming it is a celebration of sexuality and gay identity with others saying it is shameful and vulgar. With the heated debate, gay sex parties may be a thing of the past if police decide to start cracking down. Second to New York City, Mexico City has one of the largest subway/train systems in the world and in a given day, an average of 4 million people ride daily. OnlyFans and adult film stars have filmed scenes in the last car that have gone viral, also drawing attention to what is happening.

Hooking up on the railway is not just about the thrill of illicit public sex. There's also an economic factor. Riding the subway is 5 pesos (roughly a US quarter). With the economy being what it is, many of the queer community have to live with their parents, meaning they can't host. With the price of going out to clubs or events, gay men can meet and connect for a very small price. This makes the subway an ideal place to be able to connect at any given time. College students and older gay men on a fixed economy can all afford to take part. According to reports, gay sex is happening in the last car during peak hours when cars are almost completely full, and when it is sparsely populated during the late hours. It's all up for grabs! Being able to hookup anonymously is also convenient for men who are still in the closet. The nation continues to be conservative in its beliefs and being openly gay is not always supported in the deeply Catholic nation. According to some, it isn't just about sex, it is about seeing other men being able to talk, laugh, and share stories about gay life, which they can't do in their everyday surroundings. According to a podcast with interviews and stories from the "last car," gay men dress up and prepare for a night out on the subway as if they would for a club. It is seen as a safe space that is well-lit and well-protected. The first two cars of the train are restricted to women and children only, so they don't have to be subject to sexual activity.
The train system tried shutting down the last car during evening hours saying that ridership was lower at those times and so it didn't make economic sense to keep the car open. The HRC got involved and said they were just trying to discriminate against the gay community. An investigation took place and it was determined the ridership numbers justified all cars being kept open at all times. They reopened the last car and security was told to look the other way or simply ask people having sex to politely leave. Some have reported that police have tried arresting gay men hooking up in order to get bribe money or even sex themselves.
This will be interesting to see what happens to these underground gay sex parties. That being said, it just makes our subway systems seem very boring.
