Gay Fashion Mistakes to Avoid
There is the general assumption that gay men know how to dress well, that we are the epitome of fashion and are the go-to when it comes to pushing the fashion trends. Remember when metrosexuals became a thing and all they were doing were dressing like and copying gay men? Well, no one should assume anything because there is a segment of our community that simply can't dress. We have a duty to make the world hot again. We've put together some gay fashion mistakes some of you guys are making. Stop it! LOL.
Ugg Boots?!?!?!
We are shocked we even have to say this, but some of you gays are wearing Ugg boots. WHAT?!?!?! No girl, just don't We feel so strongly about it we made it our first gay fashion mistake to avoid. Even if you are the sexiest man in the world, Ugg boots will turn a 10 into a 1. Just say no.

Make Hems Happen
Even if you don't have your legs up in the air all the time like us you should still be aware of the bottom of your pants. Hems can make or break an outfit. Got hems that are too short? You'll look like Urkle. Hems that are too long? You'll look like a hobo.

Clean Yo Shoes!
Shoes are such a big part of gay men's fashion. Spent $300 on your white Guccis? Got those shiny loafers from John Varvatos? Keep them looking good or it doesn't matter if you spent $10 or $1000. Shine your shoes regularly, keep them in shoe bags when not being worn, and for white shoes, use a cleaning cream to keep the dirt off.

Suit Buttons
Got a two-piece suit, got a three-piece suit? Leave the bottom button alone! The middle button is key, it keeps the jacket's silhouette in place, drawing it in at your waist. The bottom button is never to be buttoned because it will cause creases and make a weird shape when you lean over or sit down. Why is it there? Why do some straight men have perfect butts? Just looks, no functionality.

Tailor Swift!
And while we are on the subject of suits, spend the money and get your suit properly tailored and do it swiftly right after buying a new garment. Most places where you buy your suit will offer tailoring. Get it done, it will make the purchase of your suit worth it. And tailoring is not just for suits, got a pair of pants that are a bit baggy? Got a dress shirt that fits your big barrel chest but flows around your middle like a toga? GET IT TAILORED!

Untuck It!
Another HUGE gay fashion mistake is tucking in your shirt. Some gays are walking around with their t-shirts, polos, and button-ups tucked in! No. You aren't in grade school anymore. Unless you are wearing a dress shirt and dress pants, your shirt should be untucked. There are even brands of button-ups that have hems in place for the untucked look. BUT, your shirt should also be the right fit. Wearing a shirt that is too big will have you looking chunkier and sloppier than you really are.

Spice It Up
Many of us have that favorite jacket or pair of jeans or hat that we love to wear because it fits well, is comfortable, and looks good. It's our go-to piece of clothing as we run out the door. After being worn, what was once stylish can look a little frumpy or boring when over-worn. Don't turn your closet into a set of uniforms. You don't have to break the bank but put some new clothing into your budget. Even adding a colored t-shirt, a pair of khakis, or a new pair of jeans can update all of your looks. Just changing one piece of your regular outfit can make it look new. Changing your color combos also gives your regular clothes a fresh look.

Too Many Accessories!
We get it, you bought the flashy big watch, you bought the fancy chains, and you bought the expensive wrist bracelets and rings. We get it, you have a jewelry box. You think you look like a baller, you actually look like a mess. Too many accessories actually make you look cheaper and gaudy. A few pieces make you look sleek, too many pieces make you look like a gift shop. The basic rule of thumb is to remove one thing before you leave the house and that's the perfect amount of glam.
We'll be back with more fashion tips and a look at what trends are in store for 2025!
