Singer Khalid Outed, Comes Out On Social Media
We love that more and more celebrities have had the courage to come out, leading the way for LGBTQ representation in the mainstream. That being said, we also don't believe in outing anyone. In major news yesterday, singer-songwriter Khalid (with millions of social media followers) came out as gay on his social media, claiming he was outed by someone else.
️!!!
there yall go. next topic please lol— Khalid (@thegreatkhalid) November 22, 2024
Not all of his fans were happy, to which Khalid had a quick reply:
I am! And that’s okay https://t.co/z3cvR7H6QB

He went on to elaborate about his coming out, claiming he was outed.
I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me love yall

Many of Khalid's fans point out that his music lately has been pretty representational, including an anthem for our queer themes.
Then there was the LGBTQ anthem he gave us in 2022 but ya’ll kinda slept. Either way.. hate that Khalid was forced out but he wasn’t “hiding” it. He just didn’t need to TELL nobody. pic.twitter.com/y7pbOkdHcd

Khalid has responded that he was never hiding, it just clearly isn't anyone's business.
I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business https://t.co/jAW9f7I5oO

Social media has been a swirl, from mainstream outlets to gay outlets sharing information about his coming out. He seems to be over the queer-related spotlight.
aight love yall thank yall I’m off this

Khalid was seemingly outed by singer Hugo D Almonte who posted a picture of the two of them, defending accusations that he broke into Khalid's house, and said the rapper made up the lies because Hugo didn't want him. Hugo also followed up with posts claiming sexual relations with a popular gay rapper didn't go so well. That's the tame version of it, we won't repeat what he said. Though Khalid never hid his sexuality, he wasn't forthcoming about it either. Outing someone can cause trauma and mental health anguish, it's just not cool.

Khalid seems done with the matter. The responses on his social media are a mix, some fans are extremely supportive and some feel betrayed. His tepid response to the matter doesn't make it likely that he's going to be waving the rainbow flag anytime soon at his concerts. However, this could just be a trigger response and maybe he needs time to deal with the public outing. He hasn't made any statement or response on his Instagram, just X. He has 6.9 million followers on Instagram, and 4.6 million on X. Let's see how the situation progresses or his career makes any major shifts.
