The Curse of the Verse: Chad Speaks

How many times has this happened to that group of us who identity as a true verse? We head over to our hookup's place, ready for some flip fucking good times and then he announces that he's only in the mood to top. Sigh. Most of the gay sex conversations are rooted around being a top or a bottom. Um, hello? There is a large faction of us that truly enjoy both positions, and often in the same session. Sometimes we true verse gays get left in the cold with our needs not met. Why choose just one position when you can do both? Here are some of the ways we have the curse of the verse, from my perspective.

We always have to be prepped. Being a verse, we never know when we are going to have to take one for the team. Being easily compatible, we always have to be ready for any kind of action. Sometimes we clean out for no reason. When we add "verse" to our Grindr profile, we really mean it!

Sometimes we get into relationships or dating situations where the other guy is not a verse. Since we can miraculously do both, we often have to take the position opposite of our guy and can get pigeonholed into staying a submissive bottom or power top. After a while, our true nature wants to come out and we want both sides of the bedroom. It can get frustrating when we have to play the same role each time. Open relationship, anyone?

Sometimes on the hookup apps, tops are looking for a "bottoms only" or "hung tops only." Um, what about us? We can do both! Once you tell someone you are verse, some don't believe that you don't tend to one position over the other, or they think you can't do both positions as good as just one. We can turn into a power bottom or a power top when motivated! Plus, why wouldn't you want a power top who also knows how good anal sex can feel on the other side? Knowing both positions on the bunk can give us plenty of education of what will make you feel good.

When you identify as verse, guys will look at your mannerisms and inflections. God forbid you should squeal over Drag Race or want to build a table, they will assume you are more top or bottom just based on your personality. Um, some of us glitter gays are unbelievable as tops. Don't make assumptions!
