Our interviews here at Fleshbot have consistently shown us that performers and filmmakers come to the adult film industry from any and all walks of life and previous careers. However, this may be our very first with a literal oral expert. Meet dentist and upcoming porn star Ryan Rush. With his piercing blue eyes, Hollywood leading man good looks, and drool-inducing body, this guy is a natural fit for the adult film industry. Yet, Ryan has come to this business as an already successful professional with a very happy home life. Ryan has come to the adult industry because he could find no better outlet for his "super high sex drive" and is applying the very same professionalism and commitment that has brought him the same happiness and success he's had in work and life thus far. It would be too easy to fill this article with endless jokes and puns about Ryan's literal oral expertise (don't worry, there are still a few), but we would much rather focus on how this hot newcomer came to add such a different line of work to an already successful career and how he is managing to balance them both. Let's start with a few basics: Name? Age? Hometown? Occupation?

There’s nothing basic about starting with the basics! My name is Ryan Rush and my hometown is Dallas, although I have lived in Chicago for four years now! I’m 32. I am a dentist, but I also do content creation on OnlyFans as well as adult entertainment studio work.

How did you create your stage name?

I actually came up with the “Rush” part of my stage name first because it was the first brand of poppers I had ever tried, so then “Ryan” was just an easy first name to use since it rolls off the tongue when combined with “Rush”.

Could you share with us some of your background and upbringing? How did you enter your field?

As far as my background goes, I was born in Canada! I have a geometric maple leaf tattoo on my right hip to remind me of my birthplace, which I love so much. I had a fairly normal upbringing in Texas, as I grew up in a pretty typical upper-middle-class suburb after my family moved there when I was four years old. I had a solid group of friends and was actually very studious and got good grades. I think this led me towards the healthcare field since I knew I had a good chance of being some type of doctor if I worked hard at school. I ended up choosing dentistry because I always had good experiences at the dentist growing up (never had a cavity until dental school, ironically). Also, I think dentists are able to interact with patients better and get to know them more compared to specialists or doctors who work in hospitals. I’m an outgoing person and follow my passion for all things oral! ;)

How did you transition from dentistry to gay porn?

Speaking of all things oral, the transition to gay porn has been pretty great! All puns aside, it allows me to show a different side of myself that I didn’t necessarily feel comfortable with or confident in growing up. I am still able to be outgoing and meet new people but in a completely different way, and I do have a passion for performing on camera. I found this out first by taking amateur videos of myself solo and during hookups to share on Grindr and other apps, and they were always well-received. I’ve always had a very high sex drive and didn’t necessarily know what to do with it growing up, so I decided to start OnlyFans in November 2023 and quickly realized that collaborating with other creators and making solid, high-quality content was not only so much fun but also helped me find an outlet for my high sex drive. I realized how much I enjoyed being filmed and creating videos for subscribers who would later be watching. This led me to apply to gay porn studios and start recording with them professionally!

How do you balance two such completely different careers?

Balancing my careers takes a lot of logistics but both jobs are fairly flexible so that definitely helps. I have to be on top of scheduling my dental work assignments, collabs, and studio shoots which means lots of communication with my dental recruiter as well as my porn agent, who I am so so thankful for! I still try to fit in a workout almost daily, as well as the chores and errands of daily life and some social time! It sounds more exhausting than it is, honestly.

How has your first year in gay porn been? What have been some of the best surprises and hardest challenges you've had in the industry so far?

My first year in gay porn has been absolutely amazing! Whatever expectations I had for myself and for the industry have been completely blown away! I am having so much fun meeting new people, and creating really hot content and I’m truly enjoying having sex on camera for both studio work and my OnlyFans. One surprise has been how friendly other creators/porn stars are and how much I got along with them, both on camera and off! I’ve really enjoyed my time with each creator and porn model I’ve had the opportunity to shoot with! I’m also a bit surprised by how well-received my transition has been. I haven’t experienced any backlash for getting into the industry, although I knew it would be a risk. While the stigma surrounding porn and sex work has gotten better over the years, it is unfortunately still there. One of the biggest challenges has honestly just been some personal growth I have experienced, including being more mindful of my diet and working out. I want to make sure I look my best in each scene so attention to this is important, however, they’re both essential parts of living a healthy lifestyle so adapting that mindset has helped me enjoy the sore muscles and salads. One other challenge has been how to market myself and gain more viewers for my content and more followers on my socials, something I’m still trying to navigate honestly!

How do you like studio work vs OF work? Any preference?

Both OF work and studio work have their pros and cons. I like the flexibility of OnlyFans since I can schedule myself when I want and with who I want, but then it’s also up to me to have the content edited and posted. With studio work, a lot of the “behind the scenes” work is already done and I just have to show up and perform, more or less. I think it’s too early for me to choose a true favorite at this point but if I had to pick I’d say I’m leaning towards studio work.

You have shared that you are in a relationship. What is that like in this business? How do you and your partner handle it?

Yes, I am! We have been together for several years, so there have been changes in both of us and ups & downs along the way. It’s an open relationship, which allows me to work in the industry fairly easily and without too much worry. We really value our quality time when we are together since my jobs require a fair amount of traveling.

What are your plans and ambitions in the industry moving forward?

My ambitions moving forward in the industry are to continue to experiment with different kinks/positions with different creators/porn models and to continue to grow in popularity so I can help more people enjoy themselves when they watch my videos ;) Additionally, as much as I love being a hung bottom, really want to transition into being a verse king!

Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of porn. Interests? Hobbies? Beliefs?

Outside of porn, I live a pretty active lifestyle. I enjoy going to the gym for long workouts, going for a long walk or run along Lake Michigan, and biking or walking to my appointments or errands. I try to get 10-12k steps each day, as it’s a great way to sneak in cardio rather than 45 minutes on the treadmill. I also value my social life, as I’m an extrovert. In the summertime in Chicago you can find me on the gay beach, on a boat in the lake, or partying it up in Boystown. It’s also great to have a game night or wine night with friends, FaceTime with friends and family who aren’t in Chicago, or have a photoshoot (whether professional or with my tripod at home)! I believe in living life to its fullest, one day at a time. I don’t want to look back at a life full of regrets or wonder “what if." I feel like I’m exactly where I need to be in life right now.

Who is the real Ryan?

The real Ryan has a flirty, outgoing, supportive personality. He is someone who loves to meet new people, is fun to be around, and encourages others to follow their dreams and passions. He’s someone who wants to be noticed, liked, and loved but who also values his personal time to be introspective and grow to be the best version of himself.

How do you define a true "Porn Star"?

To me, a true “porn star” is confident and isn’t afraid to show off a little bit but is also someone who recognizes and embraces the ability of sex to connect people whether in person or virtually. I believe that porn stars are always open to new ideas and aren’t afraid to explore their sexuality. They are role models on how to live a free life and set a positive image for adult entertainment in society. Porn stars want to help people feel a sense of relief, pleasure, and escape from the stresses of life.

Is Ryan Rush going to become one? How?

Ryan Rush will absolutely become one! It’s honestly still surreal when someone says I’m a “porn star” but if I take into account my definitions above, then I definitely already am one! I embody all of the definitions and ideals that I listed above. I’m focused on leaning into my passion for performing in adult entertainment and creating more high-quality content in the months and years to come! This is just the beginning of my journey and can’t wait to see (and can’t wait for viewers to see) where it takes me next!

What is your favorite thing about sex?

Oooh, that’s a tough one! I tend to be more submissive in bed, so I’d have to say my favorite thing about sex is helping the other person feel good. The intensity of the foreplay, the sounds and sights during sex, hearing the other person enjoy themselves, the look on their face, the text afterward saying how good it was, all of those things really make me enjoy the sex and help me know that what I’m doing is exactly what I should be doing….until I get horny a few hours later again ;)
