Joaquin Phoenix Quits Gay Film, Here's His Butt Anyway

We've always known Joaquin Phoenix has been a strange bird. He's got the brooding look, he acts odd on talk shows, and his acting is very intense. Over the last decade, though, he seems to be getting stranger and stranger. Remember his appearance on David Letterman? Like what in the literal hell was going on? He seems like a PR nightmare.

Well, now Phoenix is being weird to the gays. News broke out yesterday that he walked away from a film project literally five days before it was supposed to film. The movie was planned to be an NC-17-rated gay love film co-starring Joaquin and Top Gun: Maverick's Danny Ramirez as lovers.

The film was to be directed by Todd Haynes who was quoted at a press conference that the project was introduced by Joaquin himself.

The whole experience was prompted by Joaquin. It was prompted by his daring, his desire to push through barriers and to really get into the uncomfortable places about this relationship. And yet it felt like a very organic process.

Apparently it got a little too daring for Phoenix's taste. Not only was the movie about to begin production in a matter of days, but now there's a big bill that needs to be paid to all involved for the cancellation of the film. There's no official reason why the actor left the project unexpectedly. But, given his odd ways, does he really need to give a reason? Speculation is that the material was just too graphic (or too gay?) for his comfort level.

LOL. Maybe it's a relief we won't be getting explicit gay sex scenes with him. His nude scenes in Hollywood fare have been, um, interesting. We've collected them for you courtesy of Mr. Man. Here he is humping a sandcastle and jerking off into the ocean.
