Movie News: More Marvel Hunks, Chalamet, Horror, and Star Trek!

I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little hungover. Ok here’s this week's MOVIE NEWS as I see it!

No big shocker that Deadpool & Wolverine killed it at the box office, as expected. In just five days, it has already made $438.3 million globally. Insane! Check out our coverage of the hot men who make cameos! Marvel did announce that the role of Wolverine will be recast in future movies. It will be hard to fill Hugh Jackman’s pants.

Everything old is new again! Freddie Prinze Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt are in talks to return to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise in a sequel movie that will blend the original cast with new characters. Can you believe the original film came out way back in 1997? Freddie and Jennifer will probably be playing parents. Oy.

Robert Downey Jr made headlines with his Comic-Con appearance announcing that he will be back in the Marvel world…as supervillain Dr. Doom. A big change from his role as Iron Man. All the nerds went crazy. He will be replacing villain Kang the Conqueror, as originally played by Jonathan Majors who got fired from Marvel after his court issues.

Also returning to the Marvel Universe is the reboot of the Fantastic Four. Not only do they get a film, they will also appear in Avengers 5 and 6. Filming for their stand-alone movie begins this week and will star Pedro Pascal.

Hottie Chris Hemsworth may be working overtime in the Transformers world. He is voicing Optimus Prime for the animated origin movie Transformers One, and will also be starring in the G.I. Joe and Transformer crossover live-action film. With him voicing the iconic character, will he be playing two parts in the crossover film? As long as he is shirtless, we don’t care! Work away, stud!

Another Hollywood hottie working overtime, Colin Farrell will return to The Batman 2 as the Penguin, as well as the series based on his character will be released on Max. That’s a lot of Penguin! Unfortunately, Farrell is under so much hideous makeup, we don’t get to see his handsome mug.

There’s another Hellboy adaptation on the way. The trailer for Hellboy: The Crooked Man dropped at Comic-Con. Jack Kesy will play the title character. Let’s see how this one does, Hellboy just hasn’t really been successful as of yet. This iteration is said to be the closest to the comic book.

Early reviews for M. Night Shyamalan’s new movie Trap, featuring man crush Josh Hartnett, is getting positive reactions and say that the film returns to his early work, like The Sixth Sense. We know his films haven’t done so well over the last few years.

The trailer dropped for Timothée Chalamet’s first movie since Dune 2. Titled A Complete Unknown, it is a biopic about a young Bob Dylan. Check out Chalamet as the iconic musician:

Filming for Scream 7 will begin in December, a script has been finalized and Neve Campbell said in an interview the she is excited to be back and to expect a great film. She publicly talked about how little she was getting paid to reprise her role as an explanation for her exit from the franchise. The studio execs wised up and are paying her what she should be earning. You go, girl!

Mark Hamill is having a good year. He has been cast as a leading voice role in the new SpongeBob movie and will also appear in a movie adaptation of Stephen King’s The Long Walk with Judy Greer. Star Wars what?

Star Trek fans almost lost their shit when the trailer for the streaming movie Section 31 hit. Michelle Yeoh reprises her Star Trek: Discovery role of Emperor Georgiou and the film will cover the undercover agents of The Federation. The trailer reveals a style that is certainly different from the usual Trek aesthetic. Trekkies went crazy saying it is not Trek at all. You decide:

Speaking of Star Trek, Chris Pine still wants to return for a final ride as Captain Kirk for the Star Trek 4 movie. He says he wants to do a lower-budget movie that is more story-driven than special effects. Hey, whatever gets him back in those tight pants.
