Well, it seems that the cute and cubby-licious actor Jake Borelli will be ending his time at Grey Sloane Memorial after seven seasons.
Now hold on there, Doc, given the magnitude of his presence on the show, he is going to be replaced by a new gay character!
Borelli spent seven years on the show as Dr. Levi Schmitt. His character is leaving to become a general practitioner in a small Canadian town situated on his family's creek. Yes, he's heading to Schmitt's Creek. I'M KIDDING! We're not sure how they're going to wind up his storyline, especially his hot-and-heavy romance with "Dr. Nico Kim." Their relationship was the first same-sex coupling between two male doctors in the show's history.
Borelli's character started as an intern and was a recurring role for two years before he became a series regular. When Dr. Schmitt started his relationship with Dr. Kim, that's also when Borelli came out.
Borelli had some words during Pride month about what the character has meant to him.

So what about the new character? According to Edge Media Network, the as-yet-unnamed and not-yet-cast character will be on the hospital clergy staff (look out!) and will be a series regular starting in the show's 21st season. They're described as "a superhero fanboy but openly gay." And we all know how important it is to keep that representation going! As Borelli says, "Having representation on a major platform like this is so important, and I promise to keep doing my part to tell queer stories – during the remainder of my time on Grey's and in my next chapter."
And whatever the next chapter is for Borelli, yer boy Hank here wishes this cute little cupcake all the best. God don't you just wanna take a bite outta him?!
