Movie News: New Hocus Pocus, Highlander, Downtown Abbey, & More!

A new trailer has dropped for M. Night Shyamalan's Trap. The horror film stars hottie Josh Hartnett as a serial killer and will no doubt have some big twist. Let’s hope this movie doesn’t suck like M. Night’s last few films. I mean, you have Josh Hartnett! Woof!

Inside Out 2 ranked #1 at the box office again, making it the first film of 2024 to hit $1 billion in ticket sales. A Quiet Place followed closely in 2^nd place for its opening weekend. There are already talks about a sequel for the Quiet Place prequel.

The first images for Gladiator 2 have dropped, courtesy of Vanity Fair. This sequel features Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington with Connie Nielsen being the only cast member from the first movie to return. Can you believe it’s been 24 years since the original?

Bette Midler confirmed that Hocus Pocus 3 is in development. We loved seeing her back as Winifred Sanderson with co-stars Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, but the sequel was a bit of a dud. Let’s hope the third installment will be better!

Is Star Trek getting its first animated movie? Talks have been had regarding a Star Trek Prodigy movie. The series has been successful and season 2 drops this week with 20 episodes.

The Highlander reboot will start filming in January. The new Highlander movie has been in talks since 2008 but is finally happening. The film will star Henry Cavill. The original 1986 movie was a flop but fans brought it to cult status with three sequels and two TV shows.

Eddie Murphy is back for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F this week and with a price tag of $150 million, it makes it one of Netflix’s most expensive movies ever. It has been 30 years since Murphy last played Axel. Are audiences still interested? The film streams on July 3^rd.

The Naked Gun reboot starring Liam Neeson has its lead actress. Replacing Priscilla Presley is Pamela Anderson. Interesting duo! Liam Neeson is known for his drama work, will he be successful in a comedy?

There’s another trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine that dropped. This movie will bridge the MCU and Fox's live-action universes and will feature a Wolverine and Sabretooth, 24 years after we last saw them face off.

Filming has wrapped for the Rachel Zegler-led Disney live-action reboot of Snow White. The film was delayed over a year due to reshoots and the SAG strike. Keyboard warriors took to social media saying the casting of Rachel as Snow White was too woke.

Sydney Sweeney is remaking the cult classic Barbarella which starred Jane Fonda. Interesting.

The first image of sexy Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luther was leaked from the set of James Gunn’s Superman. Damn, he is fine, with or without hair!

Downtown Abbey 3 will hit theaters in September of 2025. Not much is known about the story but it will feature the return of the franchise’s favorite characters (well, except for Maggie Smith) and will also add Paul Giamatti in a lead role.
