Throwback Thursday Finds Falcon Studios Going Back in Time with a Current Cast

Just when you didn't think it could be done, a studio gives us something unique in modern gay porn. And they had to go back decades to do it! In Falcon 1971, Falcon Studios revisited some of their classic titles and stars, like Casey Donovan, Al Parker, Skye Dawson, Champs, The Other Side of Aspen, and others, and gave us (somewhat) shot-for-shot remakes of them with contemporary performers. Are they absolute replicas? Eh, not exactly. They could have done a bit more work as far as costuming and locations, but it is a lot of fun to watch, especially when they start each scene with clips from the originals, or even side-by-side views of both scenes playing out so you get a good idea of just how closely director Marc MacNamara came to replicating those by-gone classics. It's an original conceit, and if you love vintage porn as I do, this one's for you.

We start off strong as Johnny Donovan energetically tops cutie pie Joseph Hart. Donovan sports a nice 70's porn 'stache so he's already conjuring those vibes. They're replicating the Skye Dawson/Dick Fisk boat and beach hook-up from Champs. Unfortunately, while there's some hot action that begins on the boat as in the original, the main action moves to a bedroom. This is surprising given Falcon's track record for incredible outdoor scenes. Yer boy Hank here finds it a bit hard to believe they couldn't find a secluded beach somewhere. But hey, those concerns melt away when you watch Donovan rail Hart's backside until he gifts him with a pearl necklace.

Matty West gets the ride of his life from Reese Rideout as they simulate the incredible coupling from The Other Side of Aspen starring the icon Al Parker and Casey Donovan. Sans fisting scene which was cut from the original, or course! West checks into his hotel room and is watching the classic film on his computer when he enters fantasyland and imagines the muscular Rideout entering his room, and entering him. It's an erotic pairing complete with a surprising amount of passionate kissing and bottom-oral action by Rideout who loves to serve with his mouth before, during, and after he drills West. It's during this scene I noticed an addition to all of these that is not found in the originals: on-set recorded dialogue. Most of that stuff was dubbed afterward, but here the men are recorded live as they plow through the humping and pumping. How amazing would it have been if MacNamara had thought to replicate the sound of the originals as well? Oh well.

Ya gotta have a prison cell scene, of which Falcon back in the day had several. Here, Hart gets a second go-round as he plays horny bottom prison guard to handsome and muscle-bound Baxxx's prisoner as they replicate the same scene from Upper Classmen starring Hal Drake and Mike Cole. At least this time they kept the scene in a similar location, and watching the action through the bars is just as good this time around as in the original as Hart's backside is taken gruffly until it's slick with cream.

When Alexander Mullerand and Ro Reyes "recreate" the Big Ben and Tom Manley scene from Double Whammy, they use the original flick more as inspiration and wind up turning it on its ear, racially. Reyes falls asleep dreaming of a hot sexual encounter. Enter Mullerand and his plethora of tight abs pounding the heck out of a willing Reyes until his face and tongue are coated. What's interesting about this scene is that, unlike the original which rested on the "kink" of an interracial hook-up with Big Ben playing the part of the eroticized BBC to Manley's trepidatiously eager White kid, Reyes and Mullerand are both POC and so they remove that anachronistic stereotype in old porn.

Finally, we have Ty Santana and Johnny Donovan inspired by the incredible outdoor, truck-side bang by the incomparable Ed Wiley and Bob Bishop in Ramcharger. It's a truly stunning scene from those days of yore and has undoubtedly inspired countless men to do the same. Here, Donovan watches the classic scene and imagines himself in a torrid flipping scene with Santana. While the action is fantastic on its own, the indoor setting can't begin to compare with the flagrant, in-your-face debauchery of the original. While it highlights some amazing sex between Donovan and Santana that leaves the latter splattered with their boy batter, it also highlights the safety net under which modern porn is produced, and how an element of masculine thrill and danger from the good ol' days is missing. (This scene drops Friday 6/21.)

Here's my roundup short review: This unique flick features some sizzling sex and acts as a great intro to classic scenes and movies you need to go find on the Falcon site if you're previously unfamiliar. But as George Michael once sang, "Go outside!"
