Orville Peck Strips Down!

Musician Orville Peck famously does not show his face and usually wears a fringed mask to hide that handsome mug. Well, something is stirring because lately, he's been showing us more and more. First, we revealed part of his face on Instagram.

Hailing from South Africa, Orville is the first openly gay country singer to be signed by a major label. He's gone from playing dive bars to major stages around the world. He's collabed with Kyle Minogue and he set the country music scene on fire when he matched up with Willie Nelson for a gay cowboy anthem.

Little by little, he's relying on his mask less and less.

He hit the scene in a major way when he released his debut album Pony in 2019, writing, producing, and playing almost every instrument on the album while working at a coffee shop and living with his parents. He taught himself music as a kid with a guitar and keyboard. Fun fact, he did cartoon voiceovers as a child actor. He also took ballet for over a decade and was touring in musicals by his 20s. He moved to England and got an acting degree from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Queerty named him among fifty heroes from the LGBTQ community in 2020, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the first LGBTQ Pride parade. In 2022, Orville received the Cultural Icon Award from the Tom of Finland Foundation.

He took a brief break from music and delayed one of his tours to take care of his mental health. He was getting burned out and disenfranchised by the industry.

He states that his influences are from the country music stars of the 1970s, including Tammy Wynette, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton among his idols.

Orville is just a cutie and we love his energy. We also love when he plays around with Kylie.
