Movie News: Box Office Sales Slump, Downey Back as Iron Man?, more IT, & more Men!
I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little hungover. Ok here’s this week's MOVIE NEWS as I see it!
Dune 2 is still the top box office winner for 2024 at $711 million worldwide. Although director Denis Villeneuve is happy that his film is a success, he wishes there were other bigger-ranking films saying that the theatrical experience is not being celebrated as it should and that other really great films are not getting the box office sales they deserve. So true. And now most people wait till they can stream it at home totally ruining the whole visual reception, no matter how big your TV is it can’t capture the magic of a movie screen.
Speaking of box office, this past weekend was a dud for Hollywood. Furiosa surprised everyone and fell to third place, Garfield and IF took first and second place and even those movies didn’t kill it with sales. Does this mean that more family-minded material is what’s going to make it at the box office? We can’t stand sitting near children at the movies. LOL.
Robert Downey, Jr. said he’s open to coming back as Iron Man. As we know, he met his demise in Avengers: End Game. But with multi-universe and time travel tricks, his version could very well continue on. Honestly, this cheap and overused multi-universe and time travel schtick is getting old and would take away the drama and importance of his death. Wouldn’t it? Or we just want to see that butt again. You do know that Robert has a full booty, don’t you? In that realm, Jeremy Renner, Hawkeye in the MCU, also stated that he would love to see an Avengers original cast reunion at some point.
We know that the souvenir bucket for Dune 2 went viral because of its close resemblance to the female nether regions. Well, to play on that, Deadpool & Wolverine released a first look at its popcorn bucket. Let’s just say we are going to see it in a lot of gay OnlyFans videos.

Last week, we announced some details about Knives 3. Well, the franchise has cast Josh Brolin to join the lineup. This man ages like a fine wine and we’d like a sip!
The Predator franchise is moving forward with a new film titled Badlands. The other iteration in the franchise, Prey, did very well so this film has a lot to live up to. Nothing has been shared plot-wise, but Elle Fanning is set to star.
Stephen King fans, there’s more IT coming! Bill Skarsgård will reprise his role as Pennywise the Clown for a prequel. It is rumored to be an original story so we see how this creature came to be. We thought that costume was finally losing traction, we’ve even seen it on drag runways! Cue the cosplay!
Remember all those sexy men with bulging and oily muscles in short loincloths for 300? Well, Zack Snyder is in talks to return to the movie to make a prequel. Bring on the men!
Alien: Romulus is getting a lot of good hype. The trailers we’ve seen so far capture the essence of the original films while keeping the horror element contemporary. There are dire fans of the aesthetic of Alien and there’s a tribe devoted to the sequel, Aliens. Director Fede Álvarez says the new film will be a blend and pay proper homage to both iterations. Alien nerd fans, unite!
There’s a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover movie in the works, and Chris Hemsworth is in talks to join…as the voice of Optimus Prime. Um, why would you cast Chris and not have him in tight fatigues as a G.I. person? We need to see muscles and bulges! Ironic to cast one of the hottest men in Hollywood and only use his voice.
Even with hotties Henry Cavill and John Cena involved, the spy comedy Argylle was a box office fail. It has gained traction on streaming, but the future of the franchise is in question. There were plans for Argylle 2 but unless it becomes a major success on streaming no one will probably greenlight it. To be honest, it was not very good…like, at all. But…Henry Cavill!
