Movie News: New X-Men, Jurassic Park, Beetlejuice, & More!
I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little hungover. Ok here’s today’s MOVIE NEWS MONDAY as I see it!
It wasn’t a win at the box office this weekend. Sales were the worst for a Memorial Day in decades. Furiosa (the Mad Max prequel) barely beat Garfield for #1. The film has a long way to go to make back its money. The film had plenty of marketing and good reviews, so a low box office debut is surprising.
On the other hand, Dune 2 continues to top the charts. It was one of the top streaming films in its first week of release on Max.
Barry Keoghan, the hottie we saw dance naked in Saltburn, departed the Gladiator 2 movie. He was set to play the villain but left the role to star in another film, Bird. Wise move? We shall see at the box office!
Channing Tatum will lead a Ghost remake. The film will follow the original storyline that starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.
A new trailer was released for the Beetlejuice sequel. We see a lot of the original settings and characters, especially in the afterlife. The movie boasts the use of actual special effects in place of CGI to capture the feel of the original movie.
Songwriter Richard Sherman passed away this weekend. He wrote music for 18 Disney movies, including Mary Poppins, Jungle Book, and Winnie the Pooh.
Steven Spielberg’s next film will be released in 2026. It doesn’t have a title or plot available as of yet, but he has confirmed that he is going back to sci-fi and the film will have something to do with UFOs.
Chris Pratt hinted that he may make an appearance in the Jurassic World 4 film. The sequel is supposed to reset the storyline with all new characters and will star Scarlett Johansson. Emerging hottie Glen Powell passed on starring in the film after reading the script, saying he wanted to do films that would make him happy.
In other Chris Pratt movie news, James Gunn has stated that there will absolutely NOT be a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4. Bloop!
JLo just isn’t having a good year. Poor concert sales, an announced divorce from Ben Affleck, and now her new Netflix film, Atlas, has received the lowest rating from Rotten Tomatoes in her entire career.
Daniel Craig will return for another Knives Out sequel. Titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the movie will hit theaters in 2025.
Blumhouse will be rebooting My Bloody Valentine, 15 years after the original. Blumhouse was also responsible for the reboot of The Exorcist and Halloween franchises.
The MCU just got a major update. Screenwriter Michael Lesslie has been chosen to write the X-Men reboot film. As of now, there is no title, release date, or cast announced.
Margot Robbie will be heading a movie based on The Sims. From Barbie to Sims, who is next? Barney?
Fun fact: Did you know that Kevin Costner beat out Robin Williams for the starring role in Field of Dreams?
