Accounts Using "Cisgender" Restricted on X!
Well we know what Elon Musk, the man behind the X curtain, isn't a fan of the trans community or using correct pronouns. There is no love lost between the queer community and Musk. Well, now Elon has instituted new policies at X that restrict any account that uses "cis" or "cisgender" in its postings. The reasoning? Well, didn't you know? Those are now considered slurs. Users will receive a message saying that such term use violates their rules.
Musk actually made this policy last October but now the policy is now being enforced. A message pops up and states:
“This post contains language that may be considered a slur by X and could be used in a harmful manner in violation of our rules.”
A user may still publish but may deal with the consequences.
The word “cis” is a heterosexual slur. Shame on anyone who uses it.

GLAAD calls this part of Elon's ongoing attack on the queer community and refusal to accept terms that refer to the trans community. GLAAD just released a report card for social media sites and gave Twitter an F. This included factors that include monitoring for harmful content, algorithms that are harmful or non-transparent to the queer community, and overall accountability. Besides Twitter, GLAAD also issued Fs to Instagram, Threads, Facebook, and YouTube. TikTok barely scraped by with D+. GLAAD gave Twitter a score of 33%, mostly due to the fact that X was removed policies that protect the queer social media community.

It is not new news that Musk wants nothing to do with his trans daughter. He has even promoted content, such as the video "What Is A Woman?," that speaks to the the anti-trans movement. The concession he made was to ensure that the video would not appear beside any paid advertisement. So how is this allowed but terms that literally have a valid meaning and are used in the medical are not? Insane. We can only imagine things will get worse once election time is closer. Why are we even using the platform anyway? Are we fighting for our presence or should we just go elsewhere?
Gender 101 will tell you that the term cisgender refers to those who identify with their born sex. The term has become prevalent on social media and even in medical circles. The word originates from the Latin "cis" meaning "this side of."
