Adam Killian: Over Two Decades in the Biz

"Legend," "Icon," "Superstar"

These words have almost become cliche because they are just so overused. The only time they still have the impact they should is when they are applied to someone who truly embodies them.

One such figure is the one-and-only Adam Killian.

With over two decades in gay porn, including almost ten years behind the camera, this multi-award-winning performer has this business in his blood. He has helped make the industry what it is and we couldn't love him more for it. It's hard to believe he had originally planned to do scenes for just a year or two.

In a long overdue interview with Fleshbot, Adam enthusiastically shares what he has been up to lately, how he first managed to shift from behind the camera to in front, how he has managed to become one of the most beloved performers in the industry, and how he fucking loves his job.

So what is the latest with the legendary Adam Killian?

Well, I just returned from Cabo San Lucas, where I was lucky enough to win an award. I just shot five new scenes in Spain for Lucas Entertainment. I’ve been spending a lot of my time working with Flirt4Free. I really like working on that site because it allows me to have one-on-one time with the fans and show close and personal fantasies as best I can.

Tell us about your start in the industry.

I’ve been in the industry for over two decades now. Around 2002 I started mostly behind the camera and met Chi Chi LaRue in New Orleans. She asked me to be in a movie, but I was a bit hesitant. I knew I would do well, but I just wanted to have a little bit more say in what I did and I wanted a little knowledge of how things work. I wanted to work behind the scenes first so I asked Chi Chi if she would hire me as a production assistant so I could see how the movies got produced. I studied film so I knew a lot about lighting, stage directing, and choreography. It was a great asset to have time on the set because I was able to help direct and choreograph group scenes, that was my background.

You have been in the industry for some time now. What are some of the changes you've seen in the business over the years, both good and not-so-good?

When I started VHS was still a thing. When things moved from VHS to DVDs, I remember throwing away 10,500 VHS tapes into the dumpster. That was definitely before the online streaming phenomenon happened and changed the entire industry.

What has been the secret to your longevity? How have you managed to keep your porn work fresh and exciting?

I think the biggest secret to my longevity is just being somebody who people really want to work with. I always try to bring my A-game to everything I do. I do my best. I work hard, I love everything I do, and I want to be a person who people want to work with again. I just love showing off. I love the mirrors. I love the cameras. I love making fans laugh. I love making them cry. I’m a true entertainer.

What I think has kept my work fresh is the authenticity I bring to it. Again, I love everything that I’m doing! My scenes are real! There’s almost no difference between the sex I have on camera and the sex I have off camera.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing competition between the studio world and the OnlyFans world?

I think there are good things about both. I've worked with almost all of the big companies: Falcon, Raging Stallion, Titan, Lucas Entertainment. I miss the big productions because they were more like shooting a movie. It did take a lot more time and a lot more energy and I remember it took multiple days to shoot one scene. OnlyFans is a different beast. It’s more direct. It's more about what you want to do so it’s more natural. The guys just do what they want to do and the income goes directly to the models. At the big studios, you make a lot more money per scene, but it’s as much as you could with OnlyFans. With OnlyFans, you pretty much shoot as much as you want and you get to choose who you work with (though I’ve always been lucky because the big houses let me choose my partners anyway).

You and several other performers embody the archetype of the "Muscle Daddy," which has recently become enormously popular. What do you think of this new phenomenon of audiences and the industry embracing the more mature performer?

I’m not exactly sure what to think of it. Just super glad it’s happening and I get to be a part of it!lol

Because all the fans ask, what is your favorite scene and why?

I have so many favorites! I guess I’ll have to pick my very first scene, in Best Men, Part 2. I had been in the industry behind the scenes for about eight years before I actually decided to jump in front of the camera and do a full-on sex scene. It was at Falcon and it was with Zeb Atlas. I was the videographer for that movie and they asked me to do it and I just knew it was going to be Falcon’s biggest scene of the year. Zeb Atlas was a huge star in his own right and he was just a Goliath of a man. It was actually a little intimidating, but I thought “If I’m finally jumping into this pool, I might as well make a big splash!” We actually had really great chemistry and if you watch that scene, you notice I’m pretty much in control even though I’m the bottom. We won the Grabby Award for Best Duo of the Year. After that, I started making scene after scene and won a bunch of awards. I’ve never stopped since!

There are so many more! I was so honored to be in the very last live sex show at the iconic Nob Hill Theatre in San Francisco with Jessie Colter and Max Euro. I had performed there for almost twenty years so it was a very special last night. Gary and Larry of the Nob Hill Theater had really supported me and allowed me to perform on stage for all those years. I think I'm in the San Francisco Museum now but they are the ones who let me do what I wanted to do. I’m just so appreciative of them and all of the opportunities they gave me.

Another favorite is the movie Fahrenheit with Falcon, but there’s a special reason why it’s one of my favorites. I was originally only going to be the videographer for it. The two models hired for the scene canceled and I had to step in front of the camera and shoot a solo scene on top of a white convertible Mustang (the same car I had in high school and college) we had rented for the scene. I won my second Grabby Award for Best Solo of the Year.

What are some of your passions and interests and hobbies outside of porn?

I love traveling! One of my main goals in life has always been to see the world and experience all kinds of different cultures. I've been lucky enough to travel and work all over the world. I lived, studied, and worked/performed for several years in Japan and Germany. I've been able to perform in Australia, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Paris and many more. I've also appeared at all major gay clubs in cities across the US and Canada. It's a priceless gift to experience this world. I feel so humbled. So blessed.

I still love to dance and I love doing yoga! I really think yoga has helped me to be more than just flexible. It helps me to be grounded and to find balance in life. Find your center, find peace within yourself, and then you are able to share that with others. That's helped me to be a better performer and a better person as well.

What are your future plans in the industry? Any performers whom you would like to work with?

I spend most of my time on my favorite website Flirt4Free. It’s a live WebCam site where fans and models interact in real-time in this virtual fantasy world. It’s not just a jack off-site, after being on there for years I’ve established great connections and relationships that are dear to my heart. Dedicated fans get to know each other as well through the site so it feels kind of like a family, a support group, a community. It’s a special space where a lot of models from all over the world get to meet each other in person because every year Flirt has a summit in a different exotic location to meet and greet, learn new tricks of the trade, and enjoy the adventures, games, and parties that the Flirt staff have prepared for us. Past summits have been in Costa Rica, Maldives, Bali, Cabo, and Thailand. This year it will be on the beautiful beaches in Vietnam! What are some of your strongest personal beliefs and philosophies?

Treat others how you want to be treated. Be kind. Be humble. Be grateful. It all comes back to you if you treat others with kindness. That policy has carried me really far in life and has helped me to be a better person. I think that’s how I’ve achieved such success and longevity and been able to experience the world.
