Masturbate Before Bed!
Most of us wake up with morning wood and take care of business before getting ready for the day. But, for those of us that are single (or not getting any from your boo), there's a big benefit to masturbating before bed. Not only is it a fun way to end the day, but it also has some health benefits. There have been many sleep studies on Americans, and many of us are concerned about the lack of or quality of sleep. Most research places those who suffer from insomnia anywhere from 10 to 30% of all Americans. That's a lot of us. There are a few ways jerking it before turning the light off can help. Let's break it down.

Chemically. When you orgasm, your body releases oxytocin and serotonin - not only do these neurochemicals relax you and create a sense of euphoria, but they also combat the effects of the stress hormone cortisol. Your brain also releases vasopressin, which helps cut down peeing in the middle of the night and can also help fight stress and pain. Masturbating and orgasm can release these chemicals that can work together with your natural melatonin to put you to sleep, and keep you asleep.
What if you don't cum? Some of us are long masturbators and don't actually get the orgasm all the time. There haven't really been any studies on sleep where the subject hasn't climaxed but some research states that not cumming can put you in a state of anxiety or disappointment, definitely not putting you in a relaxed state. Having a problem getting there? Have you checked out our very own Chad's tips on masturbation? Try them. Also, some research says that even if your brain is not releasing all those chemicals (everyone is different), your mindset becomes relaxed after cumming and so you can put yourself in a state of relaxation, much like a placebo can still work.
Important to remember is that melatonin is needed for sleep. Everyone has different levels of melatonin, and without the help of it, masturbating before sleep might not help. There is also a chemical element that can actually make some people feel more alert and energized. This can deal with the amount of prolactin that is released during an orgasm. Not everyone has the same levels, and this is the chemical that makes you feel sleepy. So try it out for a bit, and see how it works for you and your body.
