More Dune, Willy Wonka Horror Film, Naked Gun Reboot, & Shrek!
I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little tipsy. Ok here’s today’s MOVIE NEW MONDAY as I see it!
No big surprise, Dune 2 hit it BIG at the box office this weekend, taking in about $81 million in the US for opening weekend. Director and screenwriter Denis Villeneuve said he’s working on the early stages of a script for Dune 3 Messiah, which will be the second book in the Dune series. He says it’s a long time coming, but if Warner Bros. loves the money being made, they may make him fast-track the project. How about we fast-track some undies scenes with Timothée Chalamet?
LOL. The Willy Wonka experience debacle in Glasgow is getting a horror film treatment called The Unknown. We can’t wait to see the disgruntled Oompa Loompa workers! LOL!
Zach Snyder’s Rebel Moon series will get two director’s cuts – each about an hour longer and rated R that will probably be released on the same day during the summer for back-to-back viewing. They promise to be more fleshed out character-wise, adding more to the story to make it stronger. Get your butt ready for six hours of sitting!
Wait, what??? There is a Naked Gun reboot coming and it stars…Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. with Seth MacFarlane producing. What??? Liam Neeson in a slapstick comedy? Gurrlll…
Another reboot’s trailer just dropped. Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead. Wait, this warranted a reboot? It’s a cult classic for a reason! Let it be! At least it has Nicole Richie...yassss!
Are you a fan of the X horror films? Well, there’s more on the way! X, telling the story of a porn set gone wrong, quickly got a prequel, Pearl. Now, MaXXXine is fast on its way that tells the continuing story of Maxine, and there could potentially be a fourth movie as hinted at by the film’s creatives.
Matthew Lillard is back as Shaggy? After a shelved return of Matthew Lillard returning as the iconic role of Shaggy (he took over for the original Casey Kasem), he announced he will be returning in an immersive experience for kids. Does that mean VR? A video game? Who knows, but it is happening. The last Scoob! animated project swapping out the original reboot actors didn’t do so well even though it featured Zac Efron, Amanda Seyfried, and Will Forte!
The Disney live-action remake of The Sword in the Stone has been put on pause. That’s disappointing. They are busy doing live-action remakes for movies that don’t need them. The Sword in the Stone is one of Disney’s best, underappreciated films with so much charm that is begging for a live-action redo to introduce the film to a new generation of fans. There’s so much you could do with it!
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire released the final trailer before its March 22nd release and it shows that every ghost that the crew has busted will be returning in a big way. We can’t wait to see some of our nostalgic favorites back…we already know that Slimer and the Stay Puft marshmallows are back. Excited about this one, but didn’t care too much for Afterlife but I have a feeling they are going to get this one just right.
We know that Constantine 2 is on its way. We LOVE the film and hate that it’s so underappreciated. BUT, the movie is getting a sequel. A big disappointment, Tilda Swinton revealed that she won’t be returning to the franchise as Angel Gabriel. She was SO good! Booooo!
Shrek 5 is coming. It’s the franchise that keeps grabbing money!
The trailer for The Watchers just hit. It’s a horror movie starring Dakota Fanning and comes to us from…M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter. Please be better than your dad!
