OnlyFans At A Glimpse
(Information gathered by a number of sources on SignHouse.com)
Over the last few years, OnlyFans has become a household name. Assumed to be mostly a place for adult content creators, the platform also provides a voice and income stream to celebrities like Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Bella Thorne, Amber Rose, Chris Brown, Blac Chyna, Tommy Lee Jones, and the list goes on and on. OnlyFans has also given an additional income stream to social media influencers, who can connect with fans on a different level. As far as adult content goes, it is the leader in independent content interaction. Go-Go personality Diego Barros (Fleshbot Award Winner 2023 and 2024) was the first male performer to make $1 million dollars, and he did it in the course of only 8 months. During COVID, the platform really took off as many celebrities, artists, nightlife personalities, and adult film stars had nowhere else to go to earn money. Even certain influencers who claimed they would never start an OnlyFans resorted to the site just to pay their rent. We know the popularity of the site, but just how much do you know about OnlyFans?

OnlyFans was founded in 2016, was privately funded, and is still a private company to this day. At first, investors did not want to get involved in a business that was considered to cater to the adult industry. Based in the UK, the company received its biggest growth between 2020 and 2022, from $375 million to $2.5 billion! Huge growth...of course, we can credit COVID during that time as well. During that time, users grew by 1291.85%. People were at home viewing with nothing else to do. Profits doubled from 2021 to 2022 to the tune of $1.2 billion. What to buy it? It's valued at an estimate of around $18 billion...eight times what it was in 2020.

Most users identify as male, with only 10% identifying as female, and 3% declining to answer. Besides the celebrity market, this is not a surprise considering the number of straight women and gay men filming gay content. A little more than half identify as heterosexual, at an average of 29 years old, with a little less than half of all the users coming from the US.

There is much discussion as to how much people are actually making as OnlyFans content creators. Many in the adult industry are said to inflate their reported numbers because of the competition out there. Our Fleshbot insider porn base has told us that income has definitely decreased since the COVID years...no surprise, studios are back in action, people are back to work, and we've seen a lot of the content recycled between scene partners and locale. Guessing income is hard because OnlyFans doesn't report such things. Some data analysts, like Xsrus.com have scoured OnlyFans data to come up with some numbers, but that doesn't work when focusing on just the adult content arena. That site reports an average of $180 per month, with only 300 content creators $1 million or more per year, and 16,000 creators making $50,000 per year. OnlyFans takes a 20% cut, with subscription prices going from $4.99 to celebrity prices at $49.99.

It would be interesting to see data information for just the adult market. Remember when OnlyFans stated they were going to restrict adult content and everyone went crazy? They quickly backtracked on that. While a number of celebrities like Blac Chyna are estimated to make $20 million a month from the site, regular creators are making much, much less. Still, it is provided a great income stream for most in the adult community with an established fan based, good social media, and regular content.
