Let’s face it, the economy hasn’t really recovered from COVID yet and a lot of us gays are feeling the strain on our wallets. So what’s a gay to do when it comes to date night? Going out has just become ridiculously expensive and sometimes we need to make our budget stretch from paycheck to paycheck. In time for the weekend, we wanted to share some fun, easy, and sometimes cheesy ideas to spend time with your boo without breaking the bank.

Putting the Art in Partner

Get some paper and a pencil. Yep, that’s all you need. Strip down and get naked and do your best Titanic movie scene and sketch each other. Add to the atmosphere, play some sexy music, light some candles, but make your best effort to draw the other in great detail, or enhance some body parts to make it funny. Spend time doing it, don’t rush it. Not only is it something different, but you spend time really looking at your partner and connecting on a different level. You also get a sexy souvenir from it, most times the results will be hilarious and you will have had a fun naked night. Just remember to close the blinds!

Spa Night

You don’t need a lot of expensive items to have a fun spa night. You can get cheap eye and face masks from Target, get some candles, some bubble bath, and lotion. Take a bath or shower together in the hot steam, soaping each other down. After that, take turns massaging each other, get to every nook and cranny and fanny. Once you are relaxed and feeling good, put on the eye/face masks and just enjoy relaxing lying next to each other. Insert sex at any step during spa night. LOL.

Pot Luck

This is for double dates or friend dates as well. Invite your good besties over and make it a pot luck. That way you aren’t stuck with having to get everything together, get some cheap bottles of wine from Trader Joe’s and you’re good to go. Don’t invite that one friend who only brings the soda or napkins. LOL. This will make for a fun long night and you aren’t stuck with a high restaurant bill and you might get some leftovers in the deal as well.

Thrift Store Hunters

This is fun to do on a Saturday or Sunday when your hangover is wearing off. Give each other a set (low) budget and give yourself a mission at your local thrift store, flea market, etc. Your mission could be to put together an outfit, or find the ugliest item, or find the sexiest item, whatever…just make it under your budget. Again, you’ll have a cheap souvenir from your budget-friendly date.

Staycation

How many times do we pass a popular landmark in our own city that we’ve never bothered to go to? Pack some snacks and hit the town and hit up as many landmarks – parks, museums, back alleys, coffee shops – whatever you’ve neglected to visit and mark them off your list and take pics along the way to mark your visit.

Just Coffee

With our busy schedules, sometimes we don’t get some sit-down time with our significant other. Pick a fun, gay coffee shop (if you have one in your city), get a bunch of magazines, get the biggest coffee you can, and just sit together and people-watch and look through your magazines together. Awwwww….so cute!

Work Out

Ok, this sounds crazy, but working out with your partner can actually be a fun date. You can spot each other, challenge each other, keep each other on track, and get sweaty together. You can also look at all the other hot guys as well and give each other an imaginary (or real) hall pass to choose from. After the workout, you will have spent time together, your endorphins are up, and that will probably lead to fun action.
