"You know that it's our time. These are the best days of our lives." If you can hear that, then you are as excited as I am about Season 11 of Bravo's Emmy-nominated reality show Vanderpump Rules. Last season, the show broke through the national zeitgeist thanks to a love triangle dubbed #Scandoval.
For the last 10 years, Vanderpump Rules has documented the twisted lives of the servers at Lisa Vanderpump's West Hollywood restaurant SUR. This group originally of twenty-somethings, now in their late 30s, has been through it all. So much cheating, so much drama, so many physical altercations. But this year, it went from a Real Housewives spin-off show to a reality TV juggernaut when longtime cast members Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix broke up after 10+ years together (essentially married without the paper) because Tom cheated with Ariana's good friend Raquel Leviss (aka Rachel). The news went well beyond the Bravo fandom. It was on CNN, it was Sportscenter, the New York Post couldn't get enough of it — it was EVERYWHERE. Ariana leveraged it to a top-three appearance on this season's Dancing with the Stars and now a Broadway run as Roxie Hart in Chicago. The show received its first Emmy nomination after 10 years on the air. And fans have been salivating for the next season of Vanderpump to see the fallout and now we finally have the payoff.
Today, Bravo dropped the extended trailer for season 11 of Vanderpump Rules. Here are our initial thoughts: The opening is giving very modern WeHo Sex and the City (Ariana is Carrie, Katie is Miranda, Lala is Samantha, and Scheana is Charlotte...obvi). It's definitely centered around Ariana. We see her in a new relationship and on Dancing with the Stars. Then we see Tom Schwartz encouraging Tom Sandoval to get back out there and date. Then we get Jax randomly having lunch with LVP, but why? We also see a bisexual love triangle emerging with divorced couple Tom Schwartz and Katie and this random girl — seems like messy fun for the show. Then it looks like Schwartz is involved in more drama as he finally comes clean that at some point in their long friendship, he made out with Scheana in Vegas. No timeline was given in the trailer, so we'll have to see how Katie and Brock feel about that. Lala doesn't have a lot here, but she does have some iconic lines including the final line of the trailer...which she's not wrong about.
