More Mean Girls & Ghostbusters, Zelda, Hunger Games, and John Cena's Butt

I’m your Gay News Guy – this is the news, casual, sassy, unfiltered, and a little tipsy. Ok here’s today’s MOVIE news as I see it!

The actor’s strike has ended after a tentative deal has been made, after four long months. No doubt the studios will be scrambling to finish projects that were left half-done. Over the four months, there were many big releases that the actors couldn’t promote, hurting the box office for smaller films like My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3.

Of course, we all love John Cena’s muscle butt. Well, he just got his hot ass kicked out. Warner Bros has decided to shelve Coyote vs. Acme, a live-action version of the beloved Wile E. Coyote that Cena starred in. The movie was completed last year, but the studio isn’t going to release it, even though it did well with test audiences. The decision is blamed on the changing of studio heads, but with no trailer ever being made or released, there’s speculation that the film was never intended to be released. Damn. I wanted to see Cena’s buns run after the coyote.

It’s so fetch! The Mean Girls movie musical trailer is out. To be honest, it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it was going to be. This is the film version of the Broadway musical, not a reboot of the movie, although some actors from the first film have come back (Tiny Fey and Tim Meadows). What the trailer doesn’t make clear is that it is a musical, one of the songs is the background of the trailer but no other songs make an appearance. This could be because the songs from the musical are…meh…not so fetch. The trailer just makes it seem like a woke reboot of the original. Have you seen the new Walmart commercial with the original film cast? That’s more fun to watch than this trailer.

Reviews for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes are in and they are…mixed. Top reviewers have ranged the film all across the board from one star to four stars. Many say that the movie falls apart in the last act, some say there’s really not enough substance and too much CGI, and someone even dared to say Viola Davis wasn’t that great. The nerve! Other reviews praise Rachel Zegler’s performance and say the film is fun. Peter Dinklage is also getting praise for his performance. The film comes out next week. Let me know your thoughts!

There’s more Ghostbusters on the way! Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the sequel to the Ghostbusters reboot. No, not the female reboot, the other reboot. Not Ghostbusters 2, but the other one. LOL. This movie will be largely based on The Real Ghostbusters, the animated series that used to air when I was a youth. The cartoon was more family-friendly and slapstick, the Ghostbusters themselves were goofier than the film version. The trailer depicts the original crew with a new slate of Ghostbusters. Who knows how this will turn out?

Great, just what we need…more anxiety. Inside Out 2 (who asked for a sequel?) will feature a new character called Anxiety. LOL. C’mon Disney, let the next generation be free of anxiety for a bit longer, we all know once adulthood hits it’s ALL about anxiety. Now to make you anxious about getting hold…Inside Out came out 8 years ago!

Ok, nerds! The Legend of Zelda is finally getting a live-action film. This has been talked about for years and it looks like it’s finally a go. It will be directed by Wes Ball who directed Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. No word as to casting. Who would make a good Link? Maybe a hot Next Door Studios boy. LOL
