Hey Gurl! with Jordan Jayro: LaCienega Boulevardéz Talks Beyoncé, The Proud Family, & High Heels

Hey girl hey! It is once again time for a brand-new episode of my award-winning podcast Hey Gurl! With Jordan Jayro! This week we’ve got a stunning episode! My special guest is the fabulous LaCienega Boulevardez! LaCienega is a fierce queen from West Hollywood! You can catch her hosting Bingo at Beaches every Wednesday and at Beaches brunch every Saturday and Sunday! We met at the infamous corporate gig that Nyx and I talked about in her episode. The one where we were doing a virtual show in a corporate office in downtown Los Angeles. It was wild, and we were still dealing with the late stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. So basically we were all trauma bonded by the experience.

We somehow got on the topic of concert tickets. At the time of this recording, we were both eagerly awaiting the arrival of Beyoncé and her acclaimed Renaissance Tour in Los Angeles. LaCienega revealed that she didn’t have tickets yet but was hoping to get some last-minute seats. I told her about the girl I found on TikTok who showed up at the venue the day of Beyoncé’s show in her hometown and was able to get floor seats for one hundred dollars! So we know it’s possible! And I really hope it works out for LaCienega! I mentioned how I sold a pair of tickets and bought another set for a different day and made a profit! I’m a businesswoman!

After the break, I asked LaCienega about stunts and splits. She told me that she has been able to kick and split for a while now since she was a competitive cheerleader in high school. Nyx was also a cheerleader, so maybe I missed out on that! I did ask LaCienega if doing splits in drag is harder than in civilian clothes, and she explained it really well. She said that in a way it’s easier because the heels have a smooth surface on the back that allows you to slide into the split faster. I suppose it would be harder to do in sneakers. I told her how I did a slow split as Sophia Petrillo when I was in the Golden Girls Brunch at the Golden Girls Kitchen in Beverly Hills. No one cared.

I asked LaCienega if her drag name had any connection to LaCienega from Proud Family. She told me yes, and that she was obsessed with that show. As was I! That era of Disney was iconic! She talked about how she related to LaCienega and her big feet. Ms. Boulevardez wears a size 16 in women’s heels! I’m over here complaining about how hard it is to find shoes in a women’s 8.5! We did talk a little about Christian Louboutin shoes. The iconic red bottoms! We both agree that they’re way too expensive to be wearing in the clubs. No ma’am.
