Go-Go Spotlight: Danilo Silva Talks Maluma, New York City, And Cooking

Hello beautiful people! It is once again time for another Go-Go Spotlight! This is where I introduce you to a sexy go-go boy that you need to know about! This week, I’m introducing you to the gorgeous Danilo Silva! He’s an amazing dancer and performer based in Los Angeles! Danilo also has a single out called “MONSTER” that you can stream here! How did you get your name:

I was born and my mother named me that.

When did you start go-go dancing and what got you into it:

New York City, 2015. My dream has always been to have dancing as my main job. Of course, being an immigrant on a student visa for many years made things hard in terms of job opportunities. Then go-go dancing was the chance and has been my main income for a few years now. Aside from backup dancing and teaching Zumba classes since 2015.

Favorite styles of music and artists to dance to:

I’m culturally a pop music aficionado! Love how pop music transforms and translates the times we live over the years. I also have an almost clinical obsession with girl bands—Little Mix being my favorite one.

Venues & parties you dance at:

Multiple parties at Mickys, Rocco’s, Heart, Motherlode, Stache, Gym, Precinct, Brüt, Chill Bar, and others. Honestly, I have danced at and for all of them. There are literally very few bars and clubs I still haven’t worked in West Hollywood and frankly, I think it’s because I moved here from NYC a little over a year ago, and I’m still kinda new in the WeHo scene. I’m very happy that I’m in talks and starting to dance downtown and in other areas of Los Angeles, as well.

Favorite thing to wear while dancing:

A thong or a jock strap baby. Thong and jock straps.

Favorite part of your body:

I think it’s a tie between my smile and my ass (Angel vs Devil).

Your signature dance move:

Hmm… I am a choreo guy. I can give you a different 8-count every time and all night long. Twerking gives you the dollar bills but I hate it. My go-to move is always a good old step-and-touch.

Have you ever hooked up with a club patron?

Yes. Duh.

Have you ever hooked up with another dancer?

Yes.

Your biggest pet peeve when people are tipping you:

I think it’s when a person is cocky or bossy and says “Work for it.” Meanwhile, they’re the cheapest, with literally two dollars in their hands.

Your biggest pet peeve about working with other go-go boys:

I know there are a lot of anxiety or/and mental health issues among us dancers and go-go boys, but my biggest pet peeve is when the person doesn’t say hello or doesn’t even make eye contact with you and you’re stuck with this anti-social partner at the venue all night long.

What advice would you give to a new go-go dancer?

Be on time and address everyone (security, bar, DJ, manager, etc) by their names and with respect. Try to learn their names. I try.

Favorite thing about being a go-go boy:

I get to party without spending money.

What do you like to do when you’re not go-go dancing?

Movies! I go to the AMC theaters twice a week. I love music and recently I started taking guitar lessons again. I am trained at singing and I just released my first single: a '90s rock jam about addiction and self-forgiveness (I was a goth kid growing up). It would mean the world to me if you guys could take a listen, and of course, stream it like 30/50 times.

What do you love about the city you live in?

Well, home is NYC. It’s where my chosen family is and where I spent most of my years in the United States. My blood family is all in Brazil and I only get to see them a few times a year. What I love about Los Angeles is the geography and the weather. I love how much of a big city it is, just like New York City, but it does have this suburban vibe. I have a spiritual connection with the desert and the mountains around LA.

Hobbies:

SINGING/hip-hop classes and writing music. My next single is coming up soon.

Your hidden talent:

I’m a very good cook. I love learning new recipes. Especially savory dishes.
