Hey gurl! There’s a brand new episode of my podcast Hey Gurl! With Jordan Jayro, and this one is a hoot! This week I sat down to chat with the legendary Miss Barbie-Q! She is a fierce actress and performer here in LA. Miss Barbie-Q is a public speaker and is about to graduate with her Master’s in Social Work! We finally got to meet a few weeks ago during Santa Monica Pride. I’m so glad we got to do this episode together! We talked about Fullerton, theatre, nightlife, the Mueller Report, and so much more! We even talked about the time Miss Barbie-Q was in Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video!

My moment before centered around alt Twitters. I won’t say that I’ve experienced this, but there may or may not have been times that I’ve gotten an email that someone I know is now on Twitter! When I click the link, it takes me to their “anonymous” Twitter account. If you don’t want anyone to find you online, you can’t use your phone number or personal email to create your account! Make a fake email, and make sure you toggle the setting that allows people to find you from your email address! I am here to help!

Anyway! For some reason, we got on the topic of shoes. I’m lucky to be able to have a small enough foot that allows me to buy shoes from a regular store. I feel for you queens who have to go to such great lengths to get shoes. Miss Barbie-Q has been in the game for decades, and she knows all the tricks. She shared with me that there are local shoe cobblers who can fix heels, and even put special parts on them for performers.

I could not end the episode without getting the full tea on Miss Barbie-Q’s experience filming the music video for “Telephone” by Lady Gaga and Beyonce! I remember seeing this video when it premiered on TV years ago! I was in HS and had just left a community theatre rehearsal for Peter Pan. That is the gayest sentence I’ve ever written. I was shook and gagged when I was researching Miss Barbie-Q in preparation for this podcast and found that credit. Of course, I rewatched the video and immediately recognized her voice in the beginning. And I quickly noticed her in two of the prison scenes. You’ll have to listen to the full episode to get the tea on what happened that day on set!
