Nick Fitt offers us a glimpse into his life in porn.

Pornography is one of the most polarizing topics you can discuss in modern times. With the rise of fan sites such as OnlyFans, JustForFans, and many others, there has been a huge wave of desensitization to sex work unlike any other time in the last century. Porn has evolved from inscribed cave drawings to 4K resolution videos of literally whatever you want to see. It’s no longer even limited to full frontal nudity and sex, in fact, the fetishy subcategories are growing in popularity every day. The porn consumer has become any and everyone that has an internet connection and 15 minutes of alone time. But with the constant evolution of porn also comes the insatiable hunger for edgier and more taboo content.

From the beginning of time, humans have been obsessed with sex, and I can't blame us. At just the sight of sex one can get a rush followed by that age-old primal instinct to touch ourselves. I view porn as an escape; a doorway into any sexual fantasy you may desire without the fear of judgment or rejection. It feels good as you watch the performers kiss, lick, taste, fuck, and cum for your personal entertainment and pleasure. No feeling in the world can compare to that of a powerful orgasm whether it's with someone else, or by yourself with help from your favorite porn stars. But with the product being so consumer-focused, what's the view from the performer's lens?

Porn is a fantasy world created by actors, directors, writers, videographers, photographers, and editors to bring the magic of sex to your screen. It takes a team to create the product yet the performers bare the heaviest burden of all, complete exposure. Imagine inviting everyone in the world to watch you have sex; yes even your coworkers, neighbors, family, friends, and a lot of random strangers. Today, I have invited porn star Nick Fitt to go beyond the porn and tell us what it’s really like on the other side of the screen.

Tell me, who is Nick Fitt?

I am an altruistic, fun-loving character, who honestly just wants everyone to get the most out of life. I am not money based or driven, I am doing this because it lets me exercise a side of myself that I never thought I’d have the courage to do.

When did you start doing porn and how did you get into the industry?

2017, Chi Chi LaRue would not stop begging me, and I wanted to stop getting bombarded so I finally said yes.

What are some positive impacts porn has made on your life?

I found my husband who I would’ve not met otherwise, and I have been able to meet people such as yourself. I’ve met good people and friends that just wouldn’t have happened without porn. Some of my best friendships and connections have been from porn, even straight friends as well.

Clark Davis and Nick Fitt at WeHo Pride After Dark.

What kind of negative impacts has porn made?

It gives you negative sexual side effects, it’s really hard to compartmentalize sex and work. I always say that porn is in your head and it doesn’t allow you to realize how good something is in real life. You’re constantly comparing yourself to others and possibly going to the gym for the wrong reasons. You post things just to chase relevance like chasing a carrot in front of you. It doesn’t go away, there’s no loyalty. If you stop, they will find someone else.

How do you keep a healthy mind while being an adult entertainer?

You find an outlet of friends and people that are close to you to vent and let it out. I have a circle of friends inside porn that I can trust, we can comfortably vent without judgment. You have to try so hard not to compare yourself to others. It’s very easy to go down the path and into that dark space. You have to have a core group of friends that share the same values as you and stick with them.

How has porn changed over the years, from your perspective?

It’s becoming more open and inclusive. HIV rights have changed a lot. Trans people are getting more opportunities and recognition, especially FTM guys who previously didn’t get as much work. They used to not have a platform but now they’re finally getting their day in the sun. It’s so important that trans people get the same opportunities as everyone else.

What role does porn play and how do you believe it impacts society?

I think a true consumer of porn, you can be who you want to be. Porn is an alter ego, it’s a made-up character. For instance, I turn into Nick Fitt then I turn back into Brian once I leave the shoot. It’s becoming more body positive as well with a lower demand for muscular physiques. People want to see porn stars that look like them!

You're married to Clark Davis, who I recently interviewed as well, what's it like being married to another adult entertainer?

It is, on the one hand, wonderful, because you have someone who can relate to you. But on the other hand, they’re also going through the same roller coaster you are. But mixing sex and intimacy with work can be difficult and presents its own challenges. There’s a saying in porn, I don’t know if I should date a porn star or a civilian. It’s a double-edged sword with a lot of give and take. But he’s ultimately supportive and we’re very happy for each other, but sometimes it’s hard to remove the personal parts of it.

What does husband life look like for Nick Fitt?

It looks like being the best supporting actor. I wake up every morning with butterflies, very happy to see him. I know that he’s my soulmate. It’s such a wonderful thing to know that every day I get to wake up with the love of my life. We’re two totally different people, day and night, but we make it work. Opposites attract, and I’m a Libra so I put my needs last sometimes so that I can make his life better and more comfortable. Get married and find out! My parents have been married for 43 years and they keep saying they see them in us.

You've got some years in the industry, tell me what it's like to age in porn?

I was first typecast as a bottom, then, as two or three years went by, they started asking me to top. Then they started having all my “uncles” and “dads” to fuck me for taboo scenes. Then in my mid-thirties, I didn’t fit into a category. Not a twink, not a twunk, not a daddy. I don’t see myself as older but transitions happen no matter if you like it or not. So you can either go with it and get more work and scenes or you can fight it and hate yourself for it. I say don’t fight it, embrace yourself, and just go with it. There is something out there for everybody, and there’s a market for everybody as well.

You also have gotten into the production side of porn, what's that like?

It’s interesting, to say the least! I realized I was good at having a vision and also following the director’s vision. I realized the vision and details are what make these big companies different. Does the locker room look like one, do the throw pillows match the blanket, does the scene look realistic for the guys in it? Having an eye for detail is very important to executing your vision. I’ve written movies that have won awards for best actor, best writing, etc. I have an eye for what’s gonna be hot, what’s gonna work, and what’s gonna sell.

Do you prefer being the performer or the production?

I like doing both. But I am constantly worried about the production now so it’s hard to focus! I think chasing relevancy causes you to want to be in front of the camera, but it’s really cool to be behind the scenes making it. I like aspects of both, and I like to alternate between the two.

Has doing porn desensitized you to other sexual experiences?

It’s taken the fun out of everything. If I want to have sex, I need to be turned on and there needs to be a connection. Spas and cruising don’t do it anymore. It’s not hot to me. When I watch porn, I recognize sets that I’ve been on and filmed with. The normal fetishes don’t do anything for me anymore. I need you to be truly into me to turn me on now.

You've been a big advocate for HIV+ people in the industry, tell me about your journey and endeavors to make the industry more inclusive?

I didn’t know that it was so taboo when I “joined” the industry; I didn’t know that a lot of studios didn’t hire HIV+ performers. I didn’t know that you cannot be HIV+ and do heterosexual, trans, or bisexual porn, which is still true to this day. Once I found out that people weren’t getting jobs, and shooting positive with positive with a condom, I started to educate people. I am the person who single-handedly got Mile High Media to film undetectable to undetectable without a condom, then one positive and one negative person together. I want to go on record to say that any HIV transmission scare has never come from the HIV+ Undetectable side of porn, only from the Negative side that passed it along due to the window of seroconversion. All of this is why PREP is so important, being abstinent between shoots and relying on tests is just not enough.

What advice do you have for anyone looking to get into porn?

Really think about it. Talk to your friends, parents if you can, your favorite aunt or uncle. Weigh the facts and take your time making that decision. Think about your future and if porn would affect that. Write down the pros and cons about it. Don’t look at it like a monetary thing because you’re not going to make a million dollars a year doing porn. Think about this, the average career of a porn star is only about three and a half years. It’s not a forever career, however, the content is forever.

You've lived in Los Angeles for nearly 20 years, how has LGBTQIA+ scene changed from when you first arrived?

When I moved to LA in 2005, it was masc for masc. DL, discreet, Adam4Adam. We all thought we had to play these roles to connect with somebody. In 2012, we started to see drag queens and trans people emerge and things started to change. Even things on TV helped put gay into the mainstream. Now fast forward 20 years and everyone is fucking everyone, drag queens are famous, and the scene has done a 180.

How do you manage friendships, acquaintances, and relationships in a big city like LA?

I think that as a porn star, you have a lot of acquaintances, when you go out you’re always “that persona”. Even if you don’t want to be. In terms of friends, that’s where you can be your true self. It’s hard to find real friends in LA due to the fact that everyone is trying to social climb or get to know you because you’re somebody. I have maybe a handful of friends, but the ones I do have are of high value. As you get older, your friendship circle gets smaller but it gets more meaningful.

You've done lots of different varieties of porn, what makes the fauxcest/taboo fantasy so popular on adult sites?

I don’t know what the obsession is and I don’t understand. Mr. Pam, Ricky Greenwood, Steve Cruz, we don’t really understand it. But basically, in a nutshell, PornHub one day had 80 million searches for taboo porn. We looked at the legalities of things and figured out what we could shoot and how we could shoot it. Once it got out there, it blew up. We met people with what they were searching for then the demand for it skyrocketed. It calls into question: 1. What are people doing in their own homes, and 2. We are possibly empowering some 19-year-old with the courage to ask to fuck his stepmom. We were going based on the algorithm and we’re in the business to make money, so we have to give people what they want to see, right?

I think studios have a moral obligation to their performers and audiences to provide safety standards and practices. Especially with the taboo category porn. Consent is huge and should be at the center of every narrative in every scene. For instance, when Ricky Greenwood started directing gay porn, he would ask us what we consent to do today. The gay performers were totally blown away because we weren’t used to that. Some of the components of gay porn weren’t clear before we were on set, like how it is on the straight side. There’s a learning curve.

The LGBTQIA+ community has had a surge in recent attacks by far-right conservatives, what message do you have for our community?

Hang in there, and don’t listen or feed into that bull$h*t, because it’s just bull$h*t. LGBTQIA+ people don’t have an agenda, we’re not trying to make people drag queens, gay, or trans. The Alt-Right created this agenda for us. It’s made up. People are afraid of what they don’t understand and then they don’t want to take the time to be educated by it. We’ve only been asking to be equal just like they are. They are the party of less government control, however, they don’t believe that should apply to us. Why do they care if someone is trans, gay, nonbinary, etc? Move on. We move on because we don’t have an agenda, but now we have to defend ourselves under a false narrative. I know people that have stood up to this made-up agenda who are pioneers in this community, and I put my entire support behind them. If I could do something today to make someone who comes after my life easier, I will. My respect for the people trying to make a change runs deep. We have to do this together.

What's your opinion on gay-for-pay models in porn?

I think that the gay community has done a great job of being inclusive to everyone. Although we’ve done that, there are people who choose to capitalize on and exploit our generosity, and that’s wrong. I think that we’ve created a safe space for everyone, especially misfits. But that safe space is now being exploited by people who are only out for themselves. I think that is damaging the community by taking away jobs from Queer people who have limited opportunities or who are highly vested in this industry. 9 times out of 10, straight gay-for-pay models make more than gay models. I’ll just say this, award-winning actress Halle Berry was asked to play a FTM trans character but then turned down the role due to feeling she was not qualified for it and also to give the opportunity to a trans person that the role was intended for.

Is there a dark side of the XXX industry?

There is a dark side, you can’t be HIV+ and work on certain sites in our industry. They talk about being inclusive, but I would love to see it. There’s the need to constantly be relevant and compare yourself to others. A lot of models use performance-enhancers, steroids, TriMix, etc. But then these things spill over into your personal life and need it for having sex off-camera as well. My relationship ended for 9 months for this reason but we worked on things and we’re better now.

I have to bring it up, tell me about the Nick Fitt dildo! How did this come to be and what inspired you to sell your own dick?

I wasn’t gonna sit around and wait for somebody else to ask me. A friend of mine at the time had extra medical grade silicone and asked what we should do with it and we decided to make dildos, specifically my own! One of the Cock Destroyers, Rebecca Moore, uses my dildo and says it’s her favorite. It can fuck you in 10 different modes and it’s waterproof!

What advice do you have for new models in the industry?

Don’t listen to or believe everything that you hear, keep a clear head, and don’t go on social media when you’re angry. Do only what you want to do, be open-minded, educate yourself, and be willing to work with anybody. Don't change yourself for anyone, be your authentic self.

Jason Vario, Nick Fitt
