Disruptive Films Director Jessica Jasmin Shares Her Magic

Although we're all quite familiar with the juicy man meat that we see going at it as God intended, there are folks working just as hard while keeping those clothes on. One of these beauties is the fierce and fabulous Jessica Jasmin. Jessica has shared her talents and worked her way up in the industry and is now wearing dual titles as Content Marketing Manager as well as Director for Disruptive Films. Come take a peak behind the curtain with Jessica Jasmin with me.

Tell our readers how you began your career in the industry.

I started in the adult industry as a media buy video editor. Prior to taking the job, I didn’t really watch any content. I never expected to make a career of it but I fell in love with the company, the people, and the industry as a whole. What started as “oh, this could be an interesting job,” became, “Wow! I have the best career.”

Your hustle game is strong. What was it like working your way up to get to where you are now working with Disruptive Films?

Thanks for noticing! It took a lot of dedication and hard work. Being involved in content distribution got me interested in the behind-the-scenes and content creation. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know. My passion continued to grow and I focused on assessing why certain content performed well and how to improve the material that didn’t. I got to know Bree Mills at the beginning of her successful career. I looked up to her and she inspired me as someone so talented at doing exactly what I wanted to do. With the support of my leaders, I worked on as many projects as I could. After several years and a lot of learning, I got a call from Bree telling me she would coach me and give me my own brand to manage: Disruptive Films!

You wear several hats, one of which is as a director for Disruptive Films. What is your favorite aspect of directing a project? What are some challenges that have come up in your time directing?

I love directing! It’s my favorite hat. Coming from a film studies background, it feels like home. So when the opportunity came for Disruptive Films, I jumped on it. My priority on set is the talent. It’s a skill to be attentive to details, to their faces, to their needs. You need to know when it’s time to cut and give them a break. I want everyone to be as comfortable as possible. Sometimes that means reshuffling schedules and restructuring time which can be challenging but it’s all about being solution driven.

What has been one of the more memorable projects you have recently contributed to?

Honestly, working with Michael Vegas and Siouxsie Q on Briar Basin Ranch (last year’s feature) and For You, I Will (this year’s feature–coming out in August!) are my best memories. This year, we pushed the envelope on a large-scale project. We worked for four days straight with our amazing crew and by the end of it, it was a total mind-meld between us. We have great chemistry.

What type or category of porn is your favorite to work on?

Cinematic, story-driven porn is my favorite. We get the chance to develop these characters and give them motivation. It’s the best of both worlds; you get a movie and a non-censored sex scene.

What sets Disruptive Films apart from all of the other content out there right now?

Disruptive Films has a totally different feeling than any other porn out there right now. Each scene is an indie movie on its own. There’s an artistic vision, an atmosphere, and a care for every detail. Of course, many of our storylines are darker than average porn. They’re rooted in something real: a news article, a personal experience, a past relationship, etc. It’s an honor to produce.

What is it that you bring to Disruptive Films (and all of the projects that you contribute to for that matter) that brings it to the next level?

I’m just a huge movie buff and a lot of what I watch reflects the type of content we create. Not only do I have the film chops, I know what a typical day looks like behind the scenes. This helps to understand what is feasible and what needs to shift to make it possible when filming.

In what direction do you see the adult film industry taking in the near future?

Over the years, I’ve seen huge, necessary changes within the adult industry. We’re more open to varied sexualities, we’ve moved away from using derogatory terms, and we’ve accepted talent moving from one niche to the next. The industry is becoming more open and I think it will continue moving in that direction over the next few years. We’ll see more fluid movies, fluid sites, and situations where categorization isn’t sensical anymore.

What is next for Jessica Jasmin?

Good question! I want to keep growing Disruptive Films and make it a staple within the industry. I’m also focused on other brands that I’d love to see shift and grow, like Wicked. Blast from the Past, my Wicked directorial debut, will be released in August. I don’t want us to think of porn as “just porn.” I want all of my content to tell a good story, one that can reach the viewer, even after they’ve jerked off! I want to make a difference in the industry, that’s what I’m striving toward.
