It's June 1st, so I have one thing to say you sluts... HAPPY FUCKING PRIDE MONTH. It seems like we're getting hit from all sides these days, so I want to lean into Queer JOY and say 1.) fuck all of our haters, and 2.) let's get excited about a (w)hole bunch of LGBTQ+ stuff to kick off this month. This list will run the gamut from TV to music, politics to porn. There's a lot to be excited about and celebrate, and I want to lean into THAT this June 1st.
Red, White, & Royal Blue

Last year, I wrote about how excited I was for the movie adaptation of Casey McQuinton's hugely successful novel, Red, White, & Royal Blue. Now, the time has arrived, and in August the movie will be released on Amazon's Prime Video. The movie tells the fictional story of Alex Claremont-Diaz, son of the first female President of the United States, and the Prince of England, Prince Henry. The two meet, hate each other, and like all great hate relationships realize maybe they're in love? It's a Queer movie, featuring Queer actors (my gawd I worship Stephen Fry), and by a Queer director. And rumor has it that the movie will be VERY steamy.

After a failed GOP senate, Laurent Witzke (who?) used what minimal Twitter clout she had gained to spread absolute homophobic hate, tweeting, "Demons can seethe. Christians are DONE taking cr@p from the LGBTQ Mafia. We’re cancelling Pride Month, pouring out your Bud Light, shutting down your Targets, and we’re taking back the rainbow" and shared a picture with a gradient color shift from "PRIDEMONTH" in gray to the center portion "DEMON" being in the rainbow colors. The problem? THAT ART WAS DESIGNED BY QUEER/TRANS ARTIST! Art By Veya created the original art, and now their meme has now gone viral with meme creators around the world making some amazing LGBTQ+ memes with the gradient in honor of the original art. Here's my absolute favorite from @Burlington_Throat_Factory_ (who also has the best IG handle in the world imho.

Podcast Spotlight - "Sounds Gay"
If there's one medium that has reshaped the way we consume media in the last decade, it's decidedly podcasts. From true crime to astrophysics, there's a podcast for everything. And this Pride Month, we want to highlight "Sounds Gay." From Queer creator Sarah Esocoff, "Sounds Gay" focuses on Queer people whose lives have been impacted for the better by music. It covers everything from a “trans moshpit" to Christian music, and should definitely be added to your list of must-listens.
West Hollywood's Pride

All Pride events are a major blast, but this year's WeHo Pride is going to be one you don't want to much. Forever faves of the LGBTQ+ community Idina Menzel and Orville Peck are both performing concerts, and the event is going to be packed to the gills with absolute LGBTQ+ joy, love, and solidarity of massive numbers. It's definitely one to check out if you're in the SoCal area.
NYC's Annual Queer Liberation March

Pride Parades are decidedly a wonderful thing. They're an amazing chance to show mass visibility, especially from companies who once feared and shunned us. But what's also important to remember is that we're not free until we're ALL free, and NYC's Queer Liberation March is an amazing reminder of that. From the not-for-profit org, the Reclaim Pride Coalition, the Queer Liberation March is a grassroots event that focuses on the entire LGBTQ+ community, with trans and racial intersectionality at the forefront, and absent of a police presence that has so often targeted the Queer community. If you're in NYC at the end of June, the Queer Liberation March should be on your list of things to do!
Support for Gay Marriage Rises to All-Time High in Hong Kong
This may seem like a random one to celebrate, but it's also pretty major in terms of global impact. The communist country's constitution defines itself as a "people's democratic dictatorship" (lol). But the people are speaking up - which can be a dangerous thing in a dictatorship - and a whopping 60% of people now believe same-sex marriage should be the law of the land.
