Today is May 5th, or as they say, "May the 5th be with you." Wait. That's not right. That was yesterday. Today is Cinco de Mayo! Though the holiday has become another reason to drink tequila and party (was another reason needed?), Cinco de Mayo is actually deeply rooted in Mexico's 1862 victory over the Second French Empire during the Battle of Puebla. To celebrate that, we wanted to take a look at some of the sexiest Mexican celebrities out there and why we love them so much!

If you grew up in the '80s and '90s as I did, then you most likely had a massive crush on Mario Lopez. He made a name for himself as the jock wrestler (woof) A.C. Slater on Saved By the Bell, as well as the ensuing sequels and movies. He has since become a staple of celebrity news TV (Access Hollywood, Extra, etc.), and at almost 50 years old remains one of the most gorgeous men in Hollywood. Jesse Spano might have been a "hot mama" but A.C. Slater is forever one hot papa. *Swoons*

Gael García Bernal is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and he's also one of the most holy-fuck-gorgeous stars. Bernal was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and gained international acclaim for his performance in Y Tu Mama Tambien. Now, he's about to star in the new gay biopic Cassandro, which tells the story of Saúl Armendáriz, the gay wrestler who became famous for becoming the first gay Luchador. Worth noting: he makes out with Bad Bunny in the movie!

Christian Chávez originally gained international fame as a member of Mexico's hugely popular pop group RBD, a staple of one of their biggest telenovelas. When he married his husband in a small ceremony in 2007, someone got a hold of pictures and tried to blackmail the network. Being made to address his sexuality publicly, the network said they no longer wanted him as a leading man since they didn't think people would believe him as straight. Now, the actor, singer, and podcaster is thriving with almost 4 million followers on Instagram and an upcoming reunion of RBD which kicks off in Texas.

I first fell for Diego Luna when he played the longtime lover of Harvey Milk, in the Best Picture-winning 2008 biopic Milk starring Sean Penn. Though the character was fairly unhinged, Luna was incredible and also so damn sexy. Born in Toluca, Mexico, Luna has been a staple of Hollywood for the last two decades, most recently gaining critical acclaim for his turn as Miguel Felix-Gallardo, the creator of the first Mexican drug cartel, in the wildly popular Narcos.

AB Soto is a queer musician and artist whose challenges the notions of masculinity, the limitations of fashion, and how they all come together to both embrace and challenge identity. Mexican by heritage, AB Soto was born in East Los Angeles and gained wider popularity with his RuPaul collaboration for "Cha Cha Bitch", which he wrote. He's as sexy as he is talented, and also the music video for Cha Cha Bitch should be a Cinco de Mayo staple imho.
