Freddie Mercury’s ‘Man From Manhattan’ Remastered and Coming in 2023!!!

News on LGBT Celebs, Queer Celebs, and Gay Celebs.

In 1976, Queer icon and Queen frontman Freddie Mercury recorded 'Man From Manhattan' along with lead guitarist Brian May, and others. The song became a huge hit amongst DJs and dance clubs in the UK, but never saw huge commercial success, in large part because it was never released in the US. Now the song is set to be remixed and remastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and is being re-released this year!

Written by Eddie Howell, Mercury produced "Man From Manhattan", sang it, and rocked the piano, as well. Right as the record was gearing up for a major release, the Musician's Union found out that one of the players on MFM was recording on the album without a work permit. As a result, the union issued a blanket ban on any further media exposure of the song, which effectively tanked the record. But with enough time, Howell finally regained the rights to "Man From Manhattan" from Warner Brothers Records, and is ready to make sure it sees its proper place in musical history. It's being released as a vinyl-boxed special edition L.P.

If you're a diehard proper music lover then you'll be even more thrilled to find out that the special edition box set will include a Dolby Atmos version of the song, the original mix, and a new 'radio mix' of "Man from Manhattan." But is one song really that exciting? First of all, yes; and I don't appreciate your pessimism. But second of all, the release will also include 10 other tracks from the era featuring Phil Collins, Gary Moore, and others, as well as unique memorabilia. To make the release even more special edition, the first 5,000 copies will be pressed on 180gr white vinyl.

The announcement of the re-release of "Man From Manhattan" comes on the heels of some other exciting Freddie Mercury news. Last month, Mercury's infamously short and tight leather hot pants were auctioned off in the UK by Omega Auction House. The leather shorts fetched a meaty £18,000 (over $22,000). Mercury wore the short shorts at some of his most famous performances of the '80s.

They were so integral to Freddie's aesthetic that they even land a mention in the band's authorized biography, Queen: As It Began, with the band writing, “‘Freddie decided to try to shock the audience with his stage outfit for the encore: the shortest, tightest pair of black leather shorts he could find. They didn't leave much to the imagination, but no one complained...’” Just how short and tight are these extra tight short shorts? 28in waist. For such a hairy otter, he had one hell of a twink body! Happy Twink Month, indeed!

Though the $22,000 shorts are obviously out of most people's price range, this new special box set definitely seems like a "must-have" for any diehard fan of Freddie Mercury. You can get yours here.
