MAJOR NERD ALERT! Jinkx Monsoon, the two-time RuPaul's Drag Race winner and recent star of Chicago on Broadway, was just cast in the next season of Doctor Who. And if you're even remotely a fan of SciFi then you know that Doctor Who is one of the most successful and famous TV shows of the last 60 years.

"I’m honored, thrilled, and utterly excited to join ‘Doctor Who!’ Russell T Davies is a visionary and a brilliant writer — I can’t wait to get into the weeds with him and the crew! I hope there’s room in the TARDIS for my luggage,” Jinkx wrote. Davies, who is the showrunner for the iconic TV show, was equally excited with the news, saying, "In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and 'Doctor Who' will never be the same again," and posted an announcement to his IG page.
And lest you be worried that they're just going to do a walk-on role in an episode, Jinkx is said to be cast in a "major role" for the season. Doctor Who comes back in November of this year. Also cast in the new season is Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education), who will star as the series' next 'Doctor,' as well as Queer actor Millie Gibson as the new 'Companion.' To launch its 60th anniversary season, Doctor Who will also show the return of darlings-of-the-series David Tennant reprising his role as the Doctor and Catherine Tate, reprising her role as the Companion in a three-episode special.
After winning last year's RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars (her second crown), Jinkx has not stopped working. Her run as Mama Morton on Broadway's Chicago brought in numerous of the most successful non-holiday weeks the show has seen in years, selling over-capacity to standing room only. Originally slated to perform for 8 weeks, her run was extended because of the critical and financial success she garnered in the role.

If you knew her from her Season 5 win of Drag Race and her Drag Race All-Stars 7 victory, then you know Monsoon is an absolute genius. Her unique and brilliant comedy, combined with her absolutely stunning looks, have earned her the title of Queen of Queens for the drag institution. And knowing when to move on to the next chapter, the 3-year sober artist announced she may be hanging up her drag wardrobe for the foreseeable future, and possibly forever. "This could possibly be the very last time I walk this runway for the rest of my life," Jinkx said. "Unless we do a 20-year reunion with all the winners of the winners of the winners."
Congrats on the new historic role, Jinkx! And if any of you haven't seen it yet, make sure you treat yourself to watching her brilliant and hilarious portrayal of Judy Garland on Snatch Game:
