Hey Gurl! with Jordan Jayro: Edson Montenegro Talks Comedy, Balls, and Sex

Happy Monday! It’s once again time for a brand new episode of Hey Gurl! With Jordan Jayro! I am so excited for you to hear this week’s episode! I got to have a lovely chat with my friend Edson Montenegro! Edson is a super hilarious comedian from New York City! We logged into the Zoom and immediately started giggling. I met Edson a while back when we did a stand-up show together. Their set was hilarious! I was screaming the whole time. We officially met after the show and quickly hit it off. That’s when I knew I needed to get them on the pod!

Edson is known for their character comedy! One of my favorites is when Edson plays an elementary-aged child doing a class presentation about the gays. How can you not love anyone who spells ancestors “ASSNESTERS”?! It’s gold! I was shocked to find out that Edson was actually born and raised in Southern California.

We talked at length about our hands (it sounds crazy, but it’s actually very interesting), and how Edson makes the perfect rice that their boyfriend does not have to fix (there may be some sarcasm in there). Edson and I bonded over our love of working out, but also our love of eating horribly bad foods. The subject quickly changed to people we went to high school with, and how they’re either miserable now, or slaying their life and career. I may or may not have made the controversial claim that straight people always get married, get fat, and become miserable. In that order. Sometimes, but not always.

Do you come from a burping family or a farting family? This was a question I never thought I would discuss until Edson brought it up. My answer will probably shock you. Then we flawlessly segued into being theatre kids and wanting to study theatre in college. Edson told me all about their boyfriend, and then immediately told me that the last time they mentioned a partner on a podcast, they broke up soon after. But guess what, gorg?! They’re still going strong! As with any gossip session, relationship talk leads to monogamy talk, which then leads to sex talk. Did we have a discussion about our balls? Yes. Did Edson also reveal that they haven’t watched any of the Harry Potter movies? Also, yes!! I was completely blindsided!
