Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on Netflix's smash hit Stranger Things officially came out on social media this week. Posting a video to his TikTok, the 18-year-old actor wrote in the copy, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know'” over him lip-synching the words, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious.”

This is also an art-imitating life moment. As Stranger Things has progressed, and the main characters push through their comings of age, Will's feelings for best friend Mike (Finn Wolfhard) become more than just platonic, as both viewers and Will alike both start to realize that Will is gay. It's a beautiful and at times painful growth for the character, but hopefully it also helped Schnapp in figuring out his own truth. It culminates in the most recent season when we see an absolutely heart-wrenching moment with Schnapp flexing his very impressive acting chops.
It also makes sense why the caption in his TikTok video read, "I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought." Take a look at Noah's TikTok coming out video below:
