With Henry Cavill Leaving, Here Are 8 Sexy Studs We’d Love to See Play Superman Next

Every generation has its brand of Superman. The OG, of course, was the late/great Christopher Reeve, before a new generation fell in love with Dean Cain as the Last Son of Krypton. Shortly thereafter, Daddy Tim Daly voiced the animated version for years in the iconic The Adventures of Batman & Superman along with the late/great Kevin Conroy. And then we had a brief stint with cutie Brandon Routh in the 2000s. But for the last decade, moviegoers around the world have had the absolute pleasure (dare I say honor?) of watching Henry Cavill in the role. But now... that era must come to an end, too. The team behind Superman said they want to explore an early chapter of Superman's story, which rules out the 39 year-old Brit. Here are some of the next generation of heartthrob actors who we'd love to see as the next Clark Kent.

Devin Way

"Daddy's home planet" is more like it! You most likely know Devin Way from the new short-lived version of Queer As Folk, but in my ideal world (whether this one or others), he could be an incredible young Superman. He's almost unbearably gorgeous, he's got the perfect curls for the iconic Superman Swoop, and just from a sheer marketing perspective he's decidedly a star on the rise.

Austin Butler

I admittedly didn't know Austin Butler before his recent stint in the critically acclaimed Elvis, but the more I see from the guy, the more I love what he's bringing to the table. And after seeing the above gif, much like Austin... I, too, am wet.

Nick Jonas

Nick Jonas is notoriously Queer-baity, but ya know what? I don't care. He's hot as hell and I don't care if he exploits it. *Shrugs* He's definitely pushing the age limit since they want to explore the younger era of Superman, but I think with a good shave and some makeup, he could be play 20s.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin

I'm just gonna put it out there that to play the role of Kal-El, Son of Jor-El, The Last Son of Krypton, that it doesn't hurt to have a name like Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes Tiffin. The 24 year-old son of director/writer/producer Martha Fiennes, and nephew of the all the sexy Fiennes men (Ralph, Joseph, etc.) is no stranger to the camera, himself. The handsome young Brit is best known for his starring role as Hardin Scott in the After film series. Also, who better to take over the reigns from Cavill than a fellow Brit?

Alex Landi

Another actor who is pushing the age limit, but I think could get away with it is Alex Landi. Best known as Dr. Nico Kim on Grey's Anatomy, Lundi is young, beautiful, ripped, and from the looks of that gif he fits perfectly within my fantasy of a Superman stripdance. DON'T KINK SHAME ME!

Finn Wolfhard

Okay, this one might come as a surprise, but hear me out. As bonkers as it sounds, the Stranger Things star is already in his 20s and is one of the most marketable actors in the world. He's also growing into an incredibly sexy young man. Throw him into the gym for 6 months of intense training, and I think he'd be bring a great sense of softness to Superman, but has the acting chops that would prevent the character from only being soft. He is, after all, the Man of Steel.

Lucas Hedges

Another possible surprising choice is one that I stand by nonetheless. Lucas Hedges is clearly an actor who is headed for an Oscar or two in his career. We've seen him tackle the heavy character roles so we know he's got the chops, and with a bit of a buff up in the gym, I think Hedges would make an outstanding Man of Steel. He would also be the first ever blonde Superman and I may I just say IT'S ABOUT TIME!

K.J. Apa

Do the youngins still watch Riverdale? Is that still a thing? Ugh I'm getting old. Regardless, K.J. Apa was one of the hottest actors to come out of the show. The Auckland, New Zealand native has also swooned audiences in The Hate U Give, as well as 2019's The Last Summer, and as you'll see from the above gif, he um... he um... as you can see from the above, um, gif, he... *wipes drool* I'm sorry what were we talking about?
