Meet Your New Crush: Helix Studios Star Derek Shaw Talks Perks of Doing Porn, Losing His Bottom Virginity, & His Type of Guy

1. You've been doing porn for Helix Studios for about a year now. How has becoming a porn star been different from what you imagined it to be?

I imagined a lot more wild parties and dramatics (like Boogie Nights) thankfully my experience has been nothing like that film! But in reality, I’m still my book-loving shut in homebody… it didn’t really change much about my daily life.

2. What's been the best perk of doing porn?

I’ve made some genuinely good friends. Yeah money is cool and sex is great. But having the genuine connection I have with my co-stars, our producer, our director and even the boom operator! That’s what makes it all worth it. They’re all some really awesome guys.

3. Before joining Helix Studios, you were a fast food worker in Florida. What's your go-to fast place and order for a cheat day?

Taco Bell: cheese Gordita crunch taco (no sour cream) with Baja blast.

McDonalds: 10 piece nugget with a mocha frappé.

Wendy’s: Pretzel burger with a chocolate frosty.

4. We've seen your top skills in all these Helix videos. Any plan for a big bottom debut? Is there a vers side of Derek Shaw?

There IS a vers side of me. There’s been only one man who can claim he topped me, but for propriety sake I’ll leave out his name.  I was admittedly nervous because I had never let another man take the reigns before. But boy, it was an enjoyable experience. Let’s just say that I’ll always remember London fondly…VERY fondly.

I was strongly considering debuting such, but bottoming is just a wee bit too intimate for me to do on camera. I read an awfully rude article calling me “boring” for not bottoming already.  I may be an adult film star, but I still have autonomy over my own body and what I do with it.

5. What's your sex life like off camera? How do you typically meet partners? What do you look for? 

Not very much, not many men can say they’ve had sex with me off camera. Don’t get me wrong I have sex, but it's not every day.
