Previously Lost Freddie Mercury Song Released and It’s Amazing!

CELEBS

Every morning in the shower I listen to any mixture of playlists I've curated for myself. Sometimes it's my "Gym Boost" playlist, sometimes it's my "Relaxing" playlist, and yet other times it's my "Gay Morning" playlist. That's the most common one if we're being honest here, and I'd like to think that you and I have a relationship built on honesty, ya know? Few musical artists show up more frequently in my playlists than Queen, and it would appear that the Gay Gawds have gifted me a new tune to start my days off right.

The new recording the band found was a bit of an accident. They were searching the troves of music they've created over the decades for their upcoming re-issue of The Miracle, which will be an 8-disc Collector’s Edition box set, set to be released on November 18th. While doing so, their team stumbled across a previously unreleased song called “Face It Alone”, which the group recorded in 1988. It's a hauntingly beautiful rock anthem celebrating personal independence, and with lyrics like, "Your life is your own; you're in charge of yourself..." the song is one of beautiful, Queer empowerment.

Roger Taylor, the band's iconic drummer said, “We’d kind of forgotten about this track... but there it was this little gem. It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.” Lead guitarist Brian May also added, “I’m happy that our team were able to find this track." Continuing, “After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us … working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed … until now!”

Freddie passed away two years after the original album was released from AIDS-related complications. “Face It Alone” marks the first time unheard vocals by Freddie were released in almost a decade.

Freddie's vocals sound as strong as they've ever been in this recording, with his signature raspy belt and large chamber of a mouth bringing some absolutely beautiful notes to soothe your queer lil soul. Take a listen here and maybe you'll add it to your "Philosophy Vibes" playlist like I plan on doing.
