Go-Go Boy Spotlight: Taco from NYC

If you live in the NYC area and have been to Metropolitan, The Cock, or Frankie Sharpe's Demons Party, then you very well may already know this week's Go-Go Boy Spotlight! Whenever I'm at an NYC bar and see that Taco (real name Erik) is dancing, I know that not only is the atmosphere going to be cool, sexy, and sex-positive, but I know that there's a really good chance the other patrons going are the same type of cool, as well. Because that's the vibe of Taco. He lights up your night when you see him at the bar, and just as much when you run into him on the subway. How you got your name: Actually, it was given as a joke by my ex because - you got it - I DO really love tacos. I could have ’em for dinner every day, so he used to call me “my beautiful taco” all of the time lol. Then, when I started working as a masseur in the spa asked me to have a more Mexican name (don’t get me started about how many times I’ve been asked how you say Erik in Spanish ) so I went for Taco because also you know, I’m Mexican and beefy lmao.

How you started Gogo dancing and what got you into it: I got very late in the game (was already 39 years old when I first did it), but one day a friend from Instagram invited me to dance in the post-pandemic reopening of The Metropolitan in Brooklyn. I have always enjoyed dancing and I thought that if people would pay me for doing something I would do for free anyways, then why not start doing it now!

Favorite styles of music and artists to dance to: I’m pretty easygoing, and love dancing pretty much everything from Robyn to JLo or whatever kind of song that has a beat that makes me happy. Circuit and house music too.

Venues and parties you dance at: I’m pretty new to the scene but so far I mostly have danced at the Dial 559 Party in Metropolitan, hosted by Janele No 5, and in the Cock some weekends. I just started dancing also in the Demons Party by Frankie Sharp, also in the Cock.

Favorite thing to wear while dancing: A baseball hat and a thick choker around my neck. She loves serving trade, babe!!!

Favorite part of your body: After a very tumultuous post-Rona forced inner work, I am proud to say that I like the majority of my body, but my pits and body hair in general are my seller assets.

Your signature dance move: The "Thick and Hairy", which is pretty much selling the body hair fantasy.

Have you ever hooked up with a club patron? I can’t say I haven’t. Guys out there are mad cute!

Have you ever hooked up with another dancer? Never on business times!!!

My biggest pet peeve when people are tipping you: I have very loose boundaries while I’m dancing to be honest, as long as they don’t slap my ass and you are tipping we are fine. And also NEVER tip with toy money, once a friend of mine got a fake bill and that.is.not.fun!

My biggest pet peeve about working with other go-go boys: I think I’ve been very lucky because every person I’ve worked with in the past has been very nice to me. I’m friendly by nature, but sometimes I need to put some energy to be mentally and emotionally in a place where I can interact with others (bc my mental boundaries are tighter than my physical ones), so I just try to do just my job and then leave ASAP to catch some sleep.

What advice would you give to a new go-go dancer? Not only dancers but in general, good communication patterns are very useful in every situation. Like, speak your mind but also make sure you are listening to others to avoid misunderstandings.

Favorite thing about being a Go-Go Boy: I like how much people can rely on you to engage better or have a good time. I think that once we get into nightlife we tend to normalize how you hang with very attractive people all of the time, but for some patrons, this is their first experience in a club and no matter body type or race or whatever, people look at you like something that makes richer their experiences.

What do you like to do when you’re not go-go dancing? Work!!! Gurl… with this economy??? I’m a masseur and content creator, so my weekdays are pretty much-seeing clients every day or just filming with other people.

What do you love about the city you live in? There’s this thing about NY where you can really be whoever you want. It takes time and a lot of effort, but it is really a place where you can become yourself.

Hobbies: When I do have time for myself I like watching tv, reading, or just playing video games. One of my favorite things to do is going to the movies by myself!

Your hidden talent: I can spell full phrases backward in Spanish. Totally unuseful. Still practicing in English, but it's something I like to brag about. I’m a photographer, you can see my work on Instagram.

Last TV show you binge-watched: Schitt’s Creek. They are taking it off Netflix, so I wanted to give it a last round before disappears into some other platform that I’m not planning on subscribing to… yet.
