The Queerest VMAs Ever!

BISEXUAL

From gender-bending outfits to same-sex kisses, to public declarations against a homophobic Supreme Court, here is a look at some of the best ways the gays slayed at the MTV Video Music Awards!

Bad Bunny Makes Out With Male Dancer

Bad Bunny may be dating model and designer Gabriela Berlingeri in real life, but the Tití Me Preguntó singer is a queer if I've ever seen one. The singer not only made history on Sunday as the first non-English-language performer to take home Artist of the Year, but Bad Bunny reminded the world that his sexuality does not define him, and no one defines his sexuality.

Midway through his VMA performance, Bad Bunny paused to make out with both female and male backup dancers, alike. Can I be next? What can I say? I'm a sucker for BB.

Måneskin Shows Some Skin & MTV Censors

Italian glam rock band Måneskin had already turned heads with their sexy as fuck outfits on the red carpet, but then they blew the roof off the house with their incredible performance of Supermodel. Rocking big bulges and gender-bending fashion, though a delight to fans and viewers, may have been too risque for the MTV censors. Fans around the world called the network out for repeatedly cutting away from the performance and showing the view of the back seats of the stadium, seemingly because of too much skin exposure. If there's one thing MTV does not condone at their performance... it's too much sexual energy from their performers.

Billy Eichner Drags Homophobic Supreme Court

Actor/Director/Producer/Writer Billy Eichner is about to make history with his new film Bros from Universal Pictures, which will be the first gay rom-com ever made by a major studio and will also feature an entirely LGBTQ+ cast in all the main roles. But that's not why the Billy On the Street performer is in the news this week. At Sunday's VMAs, Eichner took the stage to plug the movie, but also to call out the wildly ignorant Supreme Court we currently have on the bench. “We need to show all the homophobes like Clarence Thomas and all the homophobes on the Supreme Court that we want gay love stories,” Eichner said. “And we support LGBTQ people. And we are not letting them drag us back into the last century because they are in the past, and Bros is the future. Are you with me, VMAs?”

We're with ya, Billy. And I can't wait to see Bros.

Dove Cameron Dedicates Award to Queer Youth

Dove Cameron once said in an interview, "Every song I've ever released is obviously from a queer perspective because I'm queer. But ['Boyfriend'] is the first one that has been blatantly and loudly queer. And I think that accident of me writing this song and having it grassroots blow up on the internet and then the label scrambling to put it out has just been really informative for me."

Cameron doubled down on her queerness on Sunday, dedicating her Best New Artist award to the gays and theys of the world. “I want to dedicate this to all the queer kids out there who don’t feel that they can take up space and inhabit the fullness of who they are,” Cameron said in her acceptance speech. She continued, “Thank you for getting an overtly queer song onto mainstream radio. Thank you for supporting me as the persona and the artist that I am, I hope in that way you’ve also given that privilege to yourself. I love you so much.”
