Spotlight Interview with Great BateWorld BateOff Winner ProudBator as He Talks Toxic Masculinity, Life as a Solesexual, and Expanding Your Masturbation Routines

The first season of the Great BateWorld BateOff wrapped up and ProudBator won by loads of votes. I had the chance to sit down for a virtual interview with the champ and learn a little bit more about the man behind the smile, what his experience was during this first season of the challenge, and what it's like being one of the pioneers of Bating as a community and as a sexual movement.

Hailing from New Zealand, ProudBator got his start as a professional bator years before the world of OnlyFans and JustForFans were anywhere on the scene. If you watched the live finale of the Great BateWorld BateOff (or read my recap of it), you'll remember that Coach and the guys talked about some of the shame that used to be associated with masturbating. Especially for those who were raised religiously, the act of self pleasure was often shrouded in guilt and shame. I asked PB what it was like to be passionate about bating before it had become accepted as a sexual preference.

"There was a lot of resistance originally, a lot of pushback," PB told me. This is what makes him as a pioneer so impressive. A couple decades ago, when PB was just graduated from high school, everyone masturbated, but there was no community surrounding Bating. Not only that, but PB's views on sex itself were starting to evolve. His sexual awakening was well on its way, and he was having sex like any hot, hung, young man like himself would! But at some point, as PB puts it, "I realized I wasn't even really enjoying sex anymore, I was just trying to please others." Enter: Solesexual.

ProudBator joins a growing list of people in the Bator community who identify as Solosexual. The idea comes down to the fact that not all sex has to be penetrative sex, and that bating can be all someone needs to enjoy their sexual urges, whether solo or with a bud (or multiple). As we evolve as a species, we've come to learn that neither gender nor sex exist on a binary. With that in mind, it logically follows that the act of sex isn't binary either. "I found that most discussions I had with people ended with, 'So are you a top or bottom?' and that just felt so restrictive. Sex doesn't have to be penetrative. There's more to it than just that."

But for those who think that Solosexual equals "just into yourself only" ProudBator is here to correct that misconception. "It's not about obsession with oneself, or narcissism, or anything like that. It just comes down to the fact that I can have personal connections with people, where we are friends and have a great connection, and then also we can have this great sexual experience together if we want it." What I love about this approach to sex is that not only does it help remove any shame that might be involved with the act, but it also helps to remove any unnecessary added pressure. Sex should be fun.

When I asked ProudBator what he'd like to see changed within the Bating community, he talked about the rampant laziness, as well as the surprising amount of violence and hatred within the online sexual niche communities. "So many of these guys are just doing the act of sex, but you tell they're not even enjoying themselves. They're just doing a job. That's fine, but for me, the entire point is to enjoy myself! And that's what makes my work good. It's work I'm actually passionate about." In terms of the violence and hatred he sees common in the online world, PB said, "I think what it comes down to is a lot of toxic masculinity." I couldn't agree more, PB.

Speaking of things ProudBator would like to see changed, at one point in the live finale episode, Coach asked what the contestants might change about the next season. Fellow competitor and another of the Bator community OGs, BigStiffy brought up his feelings that there was an imbalance in social media followers between the competitors, saying, "Because, honestly... none of us had a chance against ProudBator." I asked PB about his thoughts on this. "Listen, I totally get it and I don't disagree that there should be more consideration with that next season" he said. "But the fact of the matter is the work speaks for itself. If I wasn't so passionate about what I do, I wouldn't have won. My passion for my work is what makes me good at what I do." Not only could I not agree any more, but it's worth pointing out that start-to-finish, ProudBator was nothing but kind and humble in the interview. Even in this defense of his win, he was just reiterating his passion for the work, and not bragging about skill.

Well, I'll brag for him. I knew nothing about this Bating pioneer going into the competition, because I didn't really know much at all about the bating community, nor the performers who are famous within it, and although I was torn every week about who I loved from each challenge, I'd be lying if I said I was surprised in any way whatsoever by ProudBator's win. PB assured me that there was no bad blood, though, between him and BigStiffy. "Me and BigStiffy have become good friends and talk constantly, actually! We might even collaborate together at some point. He's awesome." See? It all comes down to community.
