An Interview with the Comeback King: Drew Sebastian Talks Grabby Award Wins, How Porn Has Changed Through the Years, & His Work as a Celebrity Chef

PORN GALLERIES

We all love a comeback story and one of the latest and greatest happened at last week’s Grabby Awards when Drew Sebastian, a veteran of almost twenty years in this business, won awards for "Performer of the Year" and "Best Daddy."

This is an especially big feat for a performer who has been in the business for this long and who has made several departures and returns over that time. Drew is now back at his zenith and we couldn’t be happier for him. He joined Cybersocket to share his journey in and out of the business and how happy he is to be back where he belongs, on top!

Could you share with us your journey from first joining the industry to then becoming a star?

When I was a kid, and I discovered gay porn, it was in the form of magazines. I always secretly wish that I could be in those magazines. Over the next few years, I met photographers who would take my photos and I think some of my photos were used in issues of Inches and old school magazines such as that. Just my cock. As a part of a story about penis pumping. Who knows? That was kind of where I started being an exhibitionist. Then I started escorting when I was 23. That lead me to lots of great clients and experiences around the world. I still wanted to be in magazines and porn movies. I guess the timing wasn’t right. It wasn’t until 10 years later when I was escorting again and a client flew me to San Francisco for Folsom and he suggested that I apply to some porn studios to see if I could film some scenes while I was there. Out of 6 studios, Titan and Treasure Island asked me to film with them. I always wanted to be a Titan Man, but Treasure Island was what my friends were watching. So I went with TIM. That lead to my first 2 exclusive contracts with Treasure Island. They even gave me the freedom to explore fisting scenes with Club Inferno Dungeon while under contract. So I guess that’s how I got into the larger studios. I was working constantly and loving it! I probably didn’t realize that I had star status for a really long time. I still wonder what exactly does that mean? I’ll admit that I get a lot of attention and people say that they like my work, so I guess that means I’m a “star?” But to quote Dolly Parton (quoting someone else) "I'm just a working (boy)." I never think of myself as a star because, as somebody once said, "a star is nothing but a big ball of gas and I don't want to be that.”

You've been in the business for a long time now, with several breaks in between. What made you leave and what kept you coming back?

At the same time that I was starting my porn career, I was also in culinary school. I went to Le Cordon Bleu in Seattle. I had it in my mind that I would have to have a survival job once the porn work played itself out. Plus, I’m passionate about food and nutrition. After a few years of working in the industry, I met someone and decided to commit to being in that relationship and put my culinary education to use. During that three years, I kept getting messages from people saying that they wanted me back and would I consider doing more porn. Directors like ChiChi LaRue and Jeff with Cutler's Den were offering me work. I really did miss working in porn and making hot videos for the world to watch. So one day, Brian Davilla had a cancellation in one of his scenes for Pantheon Men and asked if I would fill in. They turned out to be one of my most popular scenes, which happen to be with Ryan Carter. Once the word was out that I was back and filming, I found constant work. I was feeling enough that one of the websites that show statistics about the most valuable performers came out and said that I was the biggest moneymaker for porn studios in 2020. That was a pretty big accomplishment.

How do you think you have evolved as a performer over that time?

I’ve always tried to be real. On-screen and off. I’ve always been very camera aware. I like it when I can show penetration without the obstruction of hands or body. I guess that goes back to enjoying all of the visual porno mags. With my scene partners, I try to bring out the best in them by using my experience to make us both look good. And over the years, I have become a lot more confident in myself. And just enjoying having real sex with real dudes.

What are some good and not-so-positive changes you've seen in the industry over the years?

Over the years, I’ve seen studios go from doing all of the advertising for their models and even engaging with their social media followers for them. As the studios have gotten smaller with less staff and social media has become more of an advertisement tool, models have had to promote themselves instead of the studios doing it for them. On the flip side of that, models have become their own businesses and have had to learn to conduct their porn careers as a business. It’s not a bad thing, but it’s not easy for everyone to be social media savvy. There has also been a shift from perfect bodies that all kind of looked the same, to embracing many body types and even dad bods. I’m here to tell you that I’m glad daddies are popular. I used to always go for the daddies when I was a young adult and now, I’m the daddy. Where are my college studs at?

You are a prolific performer in so many studios and genres. Which do you prefer and why?

I’ve always loved bareback sex. That’s my favorite genre. It’s why I originally went with Treasure Island over Titan. I just love raw, real, and hot sex.

What was your favorite scene and why?

It is really hard to pick one scene as my favorite. I saw a scene online with me and Danny Blue, and that one was very hot. From the way he took it to the way I gave it to him. That’s probably one of my most popular scenes and I can see why.

Tell us about your other career as a gourmet chef?

I’ve always cooked and loved making healthy-ish meals. I went to Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Seattle, WA about the same time I started doing porn. I never dreamed that I would become a celebrity chef in LAcooking for Adam Levine, Charlie Puth, Jordana Brewster, and many other celebrities that I can’t disclose. My business was in custom meal prep, which I would do at their houses. I got Adam Levine ready for his infamous Super Bowl halftime show and his wife, Behati, ready for her Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I loved my clients but that kind of work is grueling. It’s like cooking for an army every day. Give me 6-8 hours on set doing photos and sex, any day! If those celebrities only knew!

How are you today? In life and career?

I’m doing great! I’ve started personal training and nutritional coaching in Palm Springs. I’m still doing scenes for a few really great companies.
