Marilyn’s Men: A Look at the Men who Loved Marilyn Monroe

So, nothing was talked about more at this month’s Met Gala than Kim Kardashian wearing Marilyn Monroe’s famous Bob Mackie gown, which she originally wore to sing "Happy Birthday" to President Kennedy in 1962 (60 years ago last week!).

Some people thought Kim wearing the dress was a sensational homage, others an insulting sacrilege.

Wherever you stand on this issue, it reminds us that icons like Marilyn Monroe can still stir up the attention of the whole world. Movie star, fashionista, diva, singer, sexpot—there are just so many reasons we love and remember the marvelous Marilyn.

This legendary Italian ballplayer for the New York Yankees was Marilyn’s second husband. Though they were only married for two years, the pair always thought well of each other with DiMaggio never remarrying and revisiting Marilyn’s grave almost every week, long after her passing.

Arthur Miller

Marilyn’s second husband was the legendary playwright, who gave his wife her last (and maybe best) role as a divorcee in love with an aging cowboy in The Misfits. Tony Curtis

The super handsome leading man played one of the leading ladies in the hilarious comedy, Some Like it Hot. Curtis said in his autobiography that working with Marilyn on this film was a nightmare, but that didn’t stop them from having a brief affair. I guess that’s one way to deal with a bad working relationship.

Don Murray

Marilyn’s favorite of all her films was Bus Stop in 1956, in which she played a saloon singer who becomes the object of a naïve cowboy’s affections. That naïve cowboy was played by the tall and handsome Don Murray. If Don weren’t so darn cute this borderline stalker character could be pretty darn creepy.

John F. Kennedy

President Kennedy is remembered for many great (and some not so great) things, but one of his most notorious acts was his brief fling with Marilyn. The President and the movie star. Legend has it that Marilyn was also involved with Robert Kennedy at the same time! Well, that was/is definitely a way to try and get some legislation passed…

The upcoming Marilyn biopic, Blonde, stars Ana De Armas as Marilyn and has Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, and Garrett Dilahaunt as some of the men in Marilyn’s life. Looks like Marilyn’s encounters with hot men continues today.
