Babs’ Boys: The Beautiful Leading Men of Barbra Streisand Movies

April 24th will be a very important day in many LGBTQ+ circles because it will be the 80th birthday of one of our biggest icons: the legend, the myth, the EGOT, the BARBRA!

We Gays love Barbra Streisand for so many reasons. Of course, there’s that otherworldly talent as a singer and actress. There are also her perfectionist eccentricities, which have earned her the title of “Diva” (remember when she had Oprah’s microphone painted white to match the sweater she was wearing on the show?). Then there are all those super hot guys she’s had on and off the screen over the years.

Let’s have a look at some of Bab’s Boys!

Omar Sharif

This Iranian stud was a pretty odd choice to play the love interest of Fanny Brice in Barbra’s Oscar-winning screen debut Funny Girl, but we’re so glad he did! In the 1960s, Sharif was a huge star because of such epics as Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. Babs was so taken with him, that the two reportedly had an extramarital affair during the making of the film. Who could blame her?

Ryan O’Neal

During the making of the hilarious screwball comedy What's Up Doc, Ryan and Barbra were reportedly a serious item and even lived together briefly. In the film, Ryan is a nerdy pretty boy and Babs is the free spirit who can save him from his stuck up, but hilarious fiance Madeline Kahn. Damn does Ryan look great in only his glasses and boxer shorts?! 

Mandy Patinkin

Broadway legend and acclaimed screen actor Mandy Patinkin played the object of Barbra’s affections while she is disguised as a boy in Yentl, the ahead-of-its-time transgender musical and Barbra’s directorial debut. Mandy even showed off his slim, but toned tush in this funny scene. Right after Barbra sings about how she likes how he makes her feel and we totally get it!

Jeff Bridges

In Barbra’s last directorial effort to date, The Mirror Has Two Faces, Jeff Bridges plays a college professor who initially wants only a platonic relationship with fellow academic Streisand. The arrangement doesn’t last long because Barbra wants more from the very handsome Jeff. And so do we!

James Brolin

Barbra’s real life husband since 1998 is still such a hottie. We’ve enjoyed him in movies like the original Amityville Horror and WestWorld and the hit series Hotel. He also tested for James Bond in the '80s! We would have loved to live out our fantasy of Babs being a bond girl with this guy!

Doesn’t looking at all of Barbra’s boys just make you want to sing “Babs Boys! Babs Boys! What you gonna do?! What you gonna do when we cum for you?!”
